Hi everyone
I'm looking at getting my first set of custom rods but I'm undecided as to which blank the (Torrix or Acurix) in 2.5tc would suit my requirements best. I fish small waters using 1.5oz - 2.5oz leads through winter and spring then when river season opens I'm lobbing 6oz - 8oz feeders and leads for carp n barbel on the Trent.
So I'm looking for my almost perfect all round rod. I've chosen these blanks as I've used them in various test curves and have narrowed it down to these.
For those of you that have or do use any of these give any feedback as to which may serve me best.

I have the acurix in 2.75, great rod.
I did have the torrix 3.25 so not a direct comparison but im guessing that the torrix is faster tapered whereas the acurix is more a through action, and certainly not a distance tool. That said i can manage 100yds with my rods on a good day.
Ive been casting 4oz leads with a small mesh bag with my 2.75's short distances, they seem to handle it fine. Don't barbel anglers wang out massive weights with 2lb rods etc?

Are you sure the accurix is available in 2.5tc as ive only seen it listed as as low as 2.75tc but that's a 10ft blank. For what you want maybe look at the chimera blank and speak to a rod builder.

DenzLN I too currently have the 2.75tc acurix and yes it's a very nice rod but not quite hit the spot as for a rod for everything I fish for.

Hi Goose yes the 2.5tc acurix is still available through custom builds. I've contacted 3 rod builders one of which I'll be speaking with again tomorrow. As of rods I've had 1.75 torrix which is not enough power, the 3 1/4 which is too much, the Chimera snag and flood at 2.25 which isn't enough hence the reason for going with 2.5 on either.

I've used all kind of rods in the past 30 years but after a friend let me use these I had to buy my own set. Pretty sure the test curve on these is about 3.5lb so maybe a bit more than you bargained for, but I wouldn't let that put you off.
These rods will punch a lead over the horizon and they're really forgiving under the tip too, I like them so much I've just ordered a second set from Vic in black gloss with titanium rings and Alps seats.
Without doubt the best rods I've ever owned.
Here they are in action today, you could do much worse.

Is that a pod or some sort of weird singles/pod hybrid thing. I cant tell whats going on.
There is a pod, but also some buzzer bars on the ground...

Would've thought the torrix was the better option. Soft tip for flicking the light leads and more low down grunt for slow lobs of big feeders etc. and applying force to fish in the river.

I've got a 2.5lbs tc Torrix in chestnut brown with a cork handle that I use with 2 ozs leads. It is a thing of beauty. Marvellous rod.

Well after speaking with rod builders today I've been advised to go with the Torrix 2.5tc. Thank you everyone for your input.
