Just got one of these and not sure about the clip. Are these OK in use or best replaced?

Replace.
I have recently just got some old daiwa emblem x 5000a reels (like the old blue z) and i have just changed the shark tooth line clips to a proper sprung clip.
You will have to file the edges of the line clip section as it has quite sharp edges..

Have you got a picture?
All the emblem spod reels I've seen have two clips, the crappy shark tooth plastic one and a bigger circular clip that's been fine for me

Doh! Yeah just checked again and there's a proper clip on the other side
