Left em at the lake and some scumbag had it away

Had a Free Spirit Spomb Rod (E class I think) and Aerlex 7000 Spod

Had them years and was spot on for marker and spombing up to 100 yards plus

So need to buy new and want something decent to cheer myself up.

Could just get the same rod again but the Aerlex is obsolete.

Any suggestions?

PS if anyone sees a rod and reel resembling mine come up second hand in the Berkshire area give me a shout

I hear great things about the free spirit ctx spomb rod, worth considering imo.

I have the 12 ft Freespirit CTX Spomb rod it's great with a midi Spomb especially .

The 13ft ctx spm rod is a beast! Kind of wish I went for the 12ft for general fishing but it really helps with distance casting when needed... I really want to try a 12 and compare.

Shimano ultegra xtd spod reel pairs very nicely, nice and smooth with a quick retrieve.

Yep i have 13ft ctx coupled with the ultegra spod reel...great for distance baiting if required, solid reliable set up for a reasonable price...
Had mine over a year now , been pleased with it.

Last years trip to france required a couple of hours spombing every day at range...kit up to the job 😊

Yeah used the ctx for a few seasons at range found it was up to the job without breaking the bank definitely recommend

Cheers all so it's another E Class Spomb rod or I might try the CTX SPM. Either way it will be 12ft, can't get on with 13ft rods.

The E Class rod is slightly more expensive but that could simply be the royalty to Spomb.

Anyone used both and/or know the difference between the two blanks? Suitability for med and large Spombs, med and long range? Also feel when leading around?

What ranges are you talking with the ctx spm?

I need to get a marker out 140-150 at times. Spodding up to about 120.

Although generally it's markering and spodding between 40 and 100 with 80-100 getting most attention.

13ft is fine for 120 yds spombing mate...

Yeah I was able to do all that with my 12ft Spomb rod. Think I'll just get another to be safe. Both great rods by sounds of it.

Looks like everywhere is sold out of the 12ft ctx rods. I'm looking for a spod and reel
