30 + years ago I had a couple of rods built for me, then I found a good second hand Daiwa rod that matched my 2 (1.75 TC), I decided to replace them and went looking in the shops, I picked up a barbel rod of 1.75 TC....it felt so stiff SO went home and tested my rods, they now test at less than 1lb, in fact one of them only made 14oz's, I still love them but so soft now jeeeeeeez.
Anyone had the same?

Mines definitely softened over the years , especially when I got to 50 😂

The rod can start off hard but goes floppy before the vinegar strokes

Supposedly the resin in the blank causes it to soften over time. My 25 year old balisters don't seem to have gone soft and to my surprise Hold their own compared to my 4 year old Torrix.

Yep +1. Apparently a sign is yellowing in the resin when you look down the blank, something which doesn't happen now. My 20+ year old 12'6 3.5lb Ballista ER's have it but still feel stiffer than new 3.25lb Torrix....go figure!
