Changing my lead presentation to a helicopter setup rather than a leadclip due to fishing a estate lake.
Leadcore is banned but lead free leaders are allowed, can anyone tell me why this is, isn't a lead free leader just leadcore with the wire removed?
Any other suggestions for a leader that I can use with a helicopter setup, I've always used tubing and a leadclip.

I assume there's always a chance that a bit of lead wire could poke through the braid and stop a bead or swivel sliding off safely. Lead free is the same as lead red in terms of it being spliceable braid, but the materials are different.
I don't know why anyone would choose leadcore over leadfree, it sinks like a stone, and is much more supple.

Try wrapping leadcore around your distance stick and give it a pull then try the same with lead free and you'll get why fisheries are banning leadcore.
Some great lead free leader material around now, Avids takes some beating and splices so easy.

Fish trailing lead core are far more likely to become tethered than lead free, loads of info on if you do some research.

I fished an over 200 year old Capability Brown estate lake and had no problem with fishing a lead clip arrangement with tubing. I am talking about a silty lake here, a very weedy one might be different.

The Rig Marole Link Teq has an alloy chain inner as opposed to lead and is heavier and more supple than leadcore. I'm not sure if that's exploiting the no lead rule though but technically there is no lead in it.

Leadcore can kink due to the lead inside, making components become stuck, without the core the material won't kink, and therefore components slide off. Well that's the idea anyway, as long as those dopey heli safe things aren't used

So what's the advantages of using 'leadfree' over flouro as I've always used either that or leadcore and never considered leadfree, would be interested to know, may be missing a trick?
