I recently bought some monofilament line to use for tying some simple rigs for using method feeders. I'm getting used to the thicker, less flexible line. One problem I'm having is that the loop knot where the bait goes keeps on coming undone. I'm wondering whether I'm just just not tying it tight enough or whether I should use a figure of eight knot to hold it more securely. Proper noob question this so forgive me haha.

You need to use a knot puller (or baiting needle) to give a good steady pull and bed down the overhand knot properly to for the loop for the hair.

Cheers, yeah I just pulled at the knot as hard as I could. I put a boilie onto the hair and took it off again to see if the knot held and it had come loose at one end. This line is specifically for tying hook lengths and it can't hold a simple knot, I'm baffled.

You could try a perfection loop or figure of 8 as you say, annoying though I should imagine!

You can get a loop tyer on eBay etc for a couple of quid that will tie the same size every time.
