Hi do you use you main rear camera and do self takes with a app or smile etc but no screen view, or do you do with screen view but lower res self takes, or do you do main camera video and capture a img from it, with out having live screen view, or do you use the selfie cam lower res video with live screen view,

I always set my phone up on the stick with the main phone camera pointing at where ill be and whistle but this gives me no live view, and im seeing more and more people using video and then just get a clip photo from it,

I just set my tri pod up before hand take some takes using a little Bluetooth clicker. Whilst having no fish in my hand so you can see the camera is set up in the correct place. You can find them Bluetooth thingys on eBay . Cheap as chips

I use the better back camera on my iPhone 11 plus .I made up a mount that screws onto the tripod using a small car mirror so I can see what the back camera Is seeing on the phones main screen and use the Photo timer + app .

I tend to use the front facing camera so I can see the screen but once you know how far away to have your tripod etc there's no reason why you can't use the back camera for better quality photos. I use open camera app which is basically an intervalometer. You can also voice activate it so it's dead easy to use.

I always used a canon camera with a flip screen (a630 and air bulb release) and it was a fantastic level of control that i miss now im having to carry my gear and i have to cut down on weight and bulk.
On my phone camera i usually take a practice shot to centre the shot while the fish is still in the net, and when everything is prepared i then take the picture using the better quality rear camera. The Samsung phone camera is voice activated so its dead easy.

I like a lot of people only bother using my phone and obviously in the dark you have to use the rear camera as its got a flash
my method probably the same as everyone elses ? I set up the tripod or screw a bank stick in with phone holder in front of my pegged down unhooking mat /cradle then kneel down and pretend to be holding a fish above it shout cheese or press the remote or whatever and then check the picture provided there is a margin for error I know I can crop it afterwards

this was 2 nights ago in the pitch black rear camera on my Samsung Galaxy s7 good enough for me

When i get to the lake set up bank stick with cheap phone mount on. Set up camera with back camera and using photo timer+ 123 take 10 shots walking to mat and posing with non existent fish. Go back check and delete. Stick and mat stay in place for whole outing and if and its a big if, i capture something. Its phone in holder check view and away you go 10 pictures 5 seconds apart, but am usually happy after 3 or 4. To allow for slap in face shot Lay fish back down and check pictures quickly or if its really a pain i just video on phone and screen shot
