Hi guys,
The full shrink wrap near the real seat has become loose on one of my rods. Is it a case of steaming it down and gluing carefully or just gluing? Anyone had the same issue? Thanks.

One of my mates rods did this I used a paint stripping gun to heat it up and re-shrink it be careful and keep it moving to avoid getting it too hot

Thanks. That's what i was worried about, getting it too hot and marking the shrink wrap somehow. Guess it's just being careful.

Yes definitely, I was asked if I could replace it (I'm a hobby rod builder let's say) so I tried that first and luckily it worked that's how I would have shrunk the replacement

No no need to if you search on youtube for harrisonsfishingrods you'll see them doing it with a heat gun, they'll be more vids too no doubt

Go on the guides and blanks page and look for their rod building tips, one on heat shrink.

I did a lot of heatshrink work a decade ago and bought a variable paint striping gun. You don't need to though just slowly move the heat gun towards the heatshrink you could mask of the surround area with paper or card. Move the heat source around the tube to give it an even heating.
