Can atlantic heat shelf life be used as hookbait straight from the bag. Although I have never seen them I get the feeling they are soft and not likely to stay on the hair. What do atlantic heat users prefer as a hookbait ?

They are soft, but not enough that they will come off after a couple of hours. I've just about managed 24hrs on a fresh boilie out the bag, but it crumbled away under minimal pressure once brought back in.
They do hard hookbaits if you're worried about the ones straight out the bag. These last agessss. I soak mine in hot fish oil/AH Glug for years, just finished a tub from 5 years ago, they have worked best in weedy/silty waters I find.

Depends if you use freezer baits or shelflife.
I've found baitworks freezer baits too be very soft and wouldn't use them out of the bag for 24hrs fishing on the hair, on the other hand the shelf life are a lot firmer.
Get some baits out of the bag and sit them in rock/table salt in a maggot box with holes in, this will release the moisture out of the bait over a few months which will make them like hookbaits.
