A bit of a long shot really but is there any way of checking that rods are exactly what you think they are?
I have some rods which I was told are Century Armalite 13ft 2.5lb test curve, they are however a very minimalistic rebuild which the previous owner had done a few years ago so the only markings are his name on the underside. Unfortunately I don't know who did the refurb.
They are a lovely very slim, light, blank and look to me like the same carbon on Century Armalite blanks I have seen for sale on Ebay, obviously I have checked the length and test curve but is there anywhere that gives the blank diameters or, and this is a long shot, does anyone have exactly this rod that they can measure the diameter at tip, ferrule and handle for example?

God that was painful! but after about 10 attempts I have managed to post pictures to the forum. There probably won't be any stopping me now! Apologies for the pic quality, if you need better ones let me know and I'll try and re do them.

They look like Mk1s to me I presume its a spigot ,Armalite blanks arnt smooth finish it's as if there vanished in circles if that makes sense, this isn't a guarantee as you say they've been rebuilt as they could have been wet and dry,d smooth

These are a nightmare to rebuild and re varnish due to the strands on the blank , only ever did one set never again . mk 1s were the best in my opinion. I Cant tell from the pics to be honest.

From what's shown that build is 100% identical to my Vic Gibson/Penge Angling Mk1 Armalites I bought in 91.
Blank looks identical too.
Has it got a protruding black plastic butt cap?

These are 2.5's but it would be really helpful if you could measure the diameter at various points if you could, I doubt if they would be much different.

Yes they do have a protruding plastic butt cap.
Mk1 would make sense as I know Chris had had them for a long time.

that's a mk1 with vic gibson build imo
mine are 12ft 2.25 so width won't be comparable.
measure your TC with some weights.
mine were rebuilt by Cotswold Rods a few years ago and they reckoned they'd softened

That's brilliant Michael, all accurate to within about 0.3 of a mm, that's good enough for me as a couple of coats of varnish would probably explain that.
Armalite Mk1's they are then, very pleased, thanks for all your help guys.
