Tournies are approx £250 a reel, what else is worth looking at within the price range and pros and cons of each.

Are the tourneys really any good,see quite a few forsale
Tournies it is then I guess
used both and the old ISO is a modern tourney
I think that's as close as you'll get if you want the bells and whistles
be prepared for a fast drag though

There an absolute workhorse but with the grinding to go with it, there's a lot of smoother reels on the market but I love my tourneys.
I always compare them too a car. A bit like a ford rs turbo, hard to drive but looks great and a well built car compared to a newer focus which are nicer too drive but made of plastic.

Buy a couple of second hand, you should be able to pick them up from £80-£120 if you don't like them put them back up to sale and get your money back.

They're fine with fluro... it's only really a problem with smaller spools.
I've had mine for getting on 10 years now I reckon. They've never been properly cleaned, let alone serviced, but they've not missed a single beat in all that time! Yes, they're a little agricultural compared to newer models, but the tournie squeal is strangely endearing.
I wouldn't swap mine for anything other than similar Daiwa's... SS's, Emblem Z's, Longbeams etc. Built to last.
