I usually use shelf life baits.
At the end of the month I've got four nights on a lake that's freezer baits only.
Am I right in thinking if I buy (say 10kg) of freezer baits I can air dry them before and then rehydrate with lake water when I get there then I won't have any worry about baits going off etc?
Cheers

Nice one, thanks 👍🏼
Once dried and rehydrated can the be stored as shelf life's if I don't use them all or do they need to go back on the freezer?

Why don't you defrost a couple of kilos for your first day or so and take the rest still frozen in a cool box with some frozen water bottles

It would be better to just rehydrate as you use them, it doesn't take long at all, and keep any you don't use dry.

Cheers both 👍🏼
Space in the car is at a premium so no room for a cool box full of bait unfortunately

If you've got to rehydrate them why don't you use a matching liquid for your boilies rather than lake water. At least that way it will get drawn into the bait and give them a pep up. Especially if you use a liquid food then you are putting back in some of the actual liquids you lost in the drying process.
Agreed 👍🏼
I should have said that initially 😀

I always use various attractor liquids to rehydrate air drieds. Just soak them until they get as soft as you want them. Depends on whether your putting them out in a spomb or a stick. Only exception would be on a lake where the fish only eat the bait on the third or fourth day. Then I would use lake water to pre wash them out for a quicker response. You really need to have experienced and experimented on the lake for some tine to know what works best.

I wouldn't worry about it , take the bait to the lake frozen , they will be ok for at least a couple of days , after that just start to air dry them and what you don't use just put back in the freezer

Thanks guys, taking them frozen and using as and when seems like a good idea :-)
