Me and my three fishing pals are off for our first trip in a few years as time is very hard to come by these days. Two of us are in the Bristol area and the other two are in Essex. Any suggestions for a day ticket venue anywhere in between us? Ideally not too rammed and with the chance of a fish or two. Looks and condition of fish more important than size.

Why don't you look at Linear Fisheries? plenty of lakes, but will be busy. Alternatively, you could book somewhere exclusively.

Cheers lads. Can't be doing with linear, way too busy. We did look at whelford but it's a bit small for my liking. Think we're going for Thorny/The Mets.

Thorney/ Mets is a good shout and you have Farlows just up the road as a backup.
The chance of getting 4 swims to socialise in on any day ticket is slim though mate. You could try booking Waterside in Chesham... that way you'd be guaranteed a decent social and the lake to yourselves.

Thorpe Lea is in that area as well. I haven't fished it for a few years but if you're going midweek and get there early enough to be at the front of the gates you might have a chance of getting a few swims together?
Last time I was there we had a big hit of fish catching about 15 each in 24 hours up to low 20's, good sport when you get it right

If you plan it right Thorpe Lea is a good shout as you need to book peg numbers.

Hi mate I've been doing a bit on Mets it's been rammed since lockdown over weekends from Friday in the morning dont know what days you thinking of but from Sunday midday on would be a better choice thorney just had the weed cut so would think that will be back to its usual self now

Thanks for all the suggestions lads. I heard it's been pretty busy over there and that the weed had been cut. Three of us are planning to go up on a Thursday morning and the other lad is joint Friday. As is traditional for us we can't reach an agreement between us as we all seems to prioritise slightly different things. It's been the same for 25 years
