Hi Guys,
Im new to the forums but hoping to get a point in the right direction based on others experience, im currently looking to upgrade my bivvy as im 6ft tall and constantly have to basically knee around my bivvy and since seeing a few others with extra tall bivvy's it has made me want one to save the back/knee ache!
Currently i like the Fox R-Series 2 Man Giant Bivvy which is not released until end of August so at the present time i have the following options:-
1) fox r series 2 man xl (Slightly smaller than the new upcoming Giant)
2) ridge monkey xf2 (Not the compact)
By the time you add the Inner and outer wrap to the fox r-series you are not too far off the price of the XF2 therefore im hoping to get some advice on which other members would go for if you had a £1,000 budget and wanted to be able to stand up properly in your bivvy whilst being approx 6ft tall... Which would you go for?

is transporting them a factor ? weight / size ? the RM is so so long when in its bag.

I have the r series xl 2 man. My advice is you don't need the wrap. Get the bivvy and inner which you can often get on a deal. Got mine for about 380 last year. It's a huge bivvy and could take 3 bedchairs. Or 2 bedchairs and a load of tackle. Bivvy has 10k hydrostatic head, so plenty waterproof. IMO the wrap is an unnecessary and weighty expense thats not needed. Bivvy and inner mesh is good enough for most situations. Hope this helps.

Currently i can get the R-Series XL for £420 but that is without the inner dome and without the outer wrap... Like you say my priority would be to get the inner dome if i take this route but most stockists are out of stock which is why i assume the price at my local is £420

Not really as i use a van and don't travel over seas so the weight isnt too much of an issue, i kind of just want to have a new bivvy that i can stand up in comfortably and is also a good decent bivvy.
Ive not seen any of the Ridgemonkey ones on the bank which has been a concern for me albeit i know the price is quite high.

I have the fox retreat xl euro. It comes with an inner skin and zip in groundsheet
You could get three bed chairs in it. You can stand totally upright under the peak.
Bought for France. Excellent bivvy fully recommend
Pitfalls.... takes a while to pu5 up! Weights a lot! You need a big peg to be able to use it.
I have ended up fishing pegs I didn't really want to be in because they were the only ones that it would fit in
Also if you decide to move pegs its hard work
Amazing bivvy though. So impressed with it though5 about the single as my next bivvy
