Hi guys,
Fishing a new water that has no rooms on swims, super Barr w areas to sitbso going to get a set of shirt rods to use on this water only.
Compact Carp seems to get a good rep on here, but also seen powermesh 9ft for £50 - less feedback on them.
Will be using them with Emcast 25a, so 10ft and 9ft should be fine, would t want to go shorter.
Open to any other suggestions at circa £50 a rod, I have seen a Chub OutKast 10ft for £60 per rod, which from past posts looks good, but worthb£25 over the Compact Carp?

Yours was one of the historic posts that made me look at them!
Never used much TFG stuff, but sound good, fish only go up to mid 20s in the small lake so don't need anything heavy duty.

Can't comment on the TFG but the Powermesh 9ft is a stunning rod for the money. Really nice playing action and build.
One word of caution. I tried them with an Emcast 25A and for me the reels just felt too big. Others may think differently.

Out of interest which reel do you use with them now?
Thought 25a would be ok, if they are fine on 10ft.

SS2600 which I think are perfect.
they're my lads rods but we use them together stalking, spinning, that sort of thing and I'm very fond of them. I even bought a third to use them on my own now and again.
he was out with me this weekend and by the second night he was too knackered to wake up for a run at 2am so I landed a 17lber for him. Gave one hell of a fight on those rods, really enjoyed it. Before we left we fished floaters on another lake which is full of singles and they still gave a reasonable fight.

Ended up ordering the Powermesh 9ft and some GS3000 LTD to go with them.
Should be better than the Emcast size wize I'm hoping and a bargain at less than £200 for two rods and reels!

I bought the Tfg rods after seeing them recommended on here last year .
I paid less than £70 for 3 rods ,they are brilliant .
All i use at the moment .

Sounds like you wouldn't have gone wrong with either set!
I would describe the Emcast as a midi pit. I haven't given the Powermesh the biggun but my lad can do 60 yards with 0.35 and he's still learning. I reckon I'd get them up around 100 yard with 0.3 but for that sort of fishing Id be using 12ft anyway.
The GS are supposed to be an improvement on the SS so I think you'll be very happy.
I was really taken aback by the build quality on the Powermesh. They have a custom built feel.
Just one word of caution. Mine are 30mm butt ring but some have been released with a 50mm. I would go 30mm all day long. Could be wrong but I think the 50mm were made as a special for Future Fishing.

Same here, the tfgs are my rods of choice for everything now.
Probably too small a reel for some but I have paired one rod with a reel weighing only 220g and I find that an ideal setup for my floater fishing.
I recommend you try one with a very light reel if you have one as it really comes alive then.

I actually had the GS4000 before when they came out, I would have chosen them over the 3000, but at £47 each at the moment the 3000 made more sense
They are the 30mm ones as the place I got them from also lists the 50mm separately (though why you would want that on a 9ft rod I don't know)

they also do a job for spinning and light deadbaiting in the winter.
My other rods are Century and Harrison's but these hold their own
