Is the 40lb daiwa j braid x8 strong enough to use straight through for spombing? I always use the midi Spomb up to about 80-100 yards max

You could, but use a good fingerstall because it's really thin and that's the 49lb version I'm using. Tackle box tests say it breaks around 32lb, it's really good stuff but I use a 50lb Armakord leader anyway as I also use it on the Trent for spoppering to the bottom which is full of rocks.

I use it straight through with no leader with either a midi spomb or dot spod and it's never snapped
