Hi new to the forum hope you don't mind me being here.
I'm just starting out into the carp fishing world there for starting from scratch and after advice/direction on which rods/reels etc to buy.
The rods I've been looking at are
Greys prodigy gt4
Greys prodigy apex 50
Shimano tx2
Fox Horizon x4 tt
Reels
for some reason I keep getting drawn to the shimano ultegra xtd but people say about the washers and line tangle under the spool.
Bivvy
Noticed the discontinued chub airbrid 2 man with £475 off the rrp at £275
Everything else not sure the good from the bad
holdall,landing net, unhooking Mat, bite alarms, rod pod etc so any advice is appreciated.
At the minute I have £1200 to spend on the basics but I don't mind leaving it in the bank and taking advantage of the 0% finance some of the larger stores do thanks in advance mark.

I'm in the same situation In terms of buying a new setup. I packed in 10 years ago and sold everything, worst mistake ever as I had some mint gear and got f all for it.
What I will say is make a list of everything you need and put values to it, I initially had a similar budget to you and how's its over £3k!
If it was me I would get the best Rods, Reels and Alarms you can afford.
Next would be spend as much as you can afford on your tackle box and Bait to get you started. Bear in mind a fully stocked tackle box with the essentials will be about £300-400 (including the box). I know I've just done it as the 1st thing I bought.
The rest of the stuff is for comfort and won't put extra fish on the bank, all the above will.

I did exactly the same thing mate.
When i restarted I bought quality used gear though, specially for the luggage, rods and reels.
Terminal tackle bought the basics to get me back out on the bank, then added what I needed as and when.

Pretty poor advice for someone just starting out! Why spend a load on the gear and then realise you dont like it? Makes no sense

Thanks for the replies so far, as for the budget its was just for the main things i needed i can always add stuff each month as £50 here £100 there doesnt hurt your wallet as much as say a new £2-300 rod and reel.

You can buy a rod for £50 which will be perfectly good for what you will want, same for reels. Bite alarms a budget set for less than £100, brolly or bivvy no need to go crazy either. Sonik rods, okuma reels, jrc alarms, bivvy from chub or jrc, luggage etc chub jrc daiwa. Get yourself a nice little set upfor a few hundred quid

I can't see how you would ever need to spend £300 on a tackle box and terminal bits just to get you started.
Pack of wide gape hooks, pack of stiff rig/chod hooks
A reel of flouro hooklink, uncoated braid, coated braid.
Some shrink tube.
Some swivels
Some leads
Some lead shot or putty.
Lead clips and tail rubbers
Maybe some tungsten tubing.
Baiting needle
Forceps
You'd be hard pushed to spend £75 somewhere like bank and have enough gear to play around with a multitude of rigs and presentations.
Go fishing to find out what you need rather than watching YouTube videos telling you what they would like you to buy.
Loads of entry level rods and reel come up second hand from people who either give up or upgrade.

Just a bit of an update, although i was tempred by the tx2 due the resale value of them i opted for the whychwood riot rods which seem to get good reviews, also went for the shimano baitrunner dl10000rb reels.
Even bought my 6 year old the greys gt2 6ft stalker rod to try and get him into fishing.
Other bit i bought was
Chub advantage 5 star holdall
Fox horizon rod pod
Jrc radar cx 3+1 bite alarms
The only thing i didnt order was a bivvy ill keep looking for one for now.
