Iv got a fair bit of prepared hemp on its way and wanted to add garlic powder. I want to make them quite strong but not so much that it will have a negative effect, so how much should I add per kg? Thanks 👍🏻

Couldn't disagree more. Garlic can easily be overdone imo. I use it in my baits and found too much had a negative effect.

Totally depends upon the strength of your particular garlic powder. They vary greatly!
Time to get experimenting...

I personally think garlic is one of very few things that can kill a bait stone dead if high levels are used. I remember frank Warwick saying when he used high levels of garlic EO it absolutely killed his bait. Lower levels are definitely best.

I would put a couple of cloves in a kilo or so of dried hemp, cook and remove

I'm always totally baffled why anyone would want to mess around with hemp by adding rubbish to it,it's best used in its natural state,we all know that

It does work, but personally I agree with him about hemp. Fresh and natural is best imo

Personally I have found hemp works best just soaked and boiled.

Adding chilli or garlic does not improve it as it works so well as it is. It is one of the few particles that does not seem to blow, probably because it is not often used as a hookbait.

The only reason to add anything to it, is stirring in some salt into the freshly split and boiled hemp juice so it does not dissolve PVA.

Zero harm in using additives. They will no doubt permeate into the weed/chod/silt and keep the carp grubbing for that bit longer.
