Anybody use Basiairs?
The bloody line seems to go behind the spool a lot.
Should they have a rubber ring round the bottom edge of the spool?
I'm using 23lb expect but it did it with Nash bullet as well

Known issue with Basia and Basiair's. No rubber on the bottom of the spools and no line guard makes it worse.

Love the reels, didnt expect a problem like that considering the price.
Has anybody tried fitting a large o ring or similar to the bottom of the spool?

I think the original version had an o ring to creat a skirted spool if i remember rightly but it didn't help as mine were forever doing it, the trouble is we all tend to brim our reels to the lip and most spools aren't designed to do this as the lip helps to control the friction so to speak but the original basia didn't hold huge amounts of line so that didn't help the confidence to fill to the correct level either unfortunately

Early shimanos had the problem used to use the softer side of Velcro around the spoil to prevent line from going behind the spool.

Most current shmanos do the same thing in my experience, really good idea that though thanks very much, just gotta justify fixing a problem on 130 quid reels now...
. And some daiwa dont have the line guard fitted dont understand why to be honest as the OP says its not they are cheap reels .

Just got rid of my DCR1 customs because of this and many other issues I.e having to clean them after every use in the rain as they grind like you wouldn't believe the reels constantly need looking after like there baby's they hold very little line for a big pit reel they are amazing to look at and cast well ( minus any behind spool mishaps) but as a flagship reel at over £400 I was very disappointed 😞
