Has anyone made themselves one I have just started to build one 20mtrs to start with out of 25mm conduit, having seen some videos on them on YouTube I've noticed some have a tendency to bend whilst in the water, I'm thinking of inserting bamboo inside the conduit and them spraying expanding foam into the tube to aid rigidity and also for bouyancy.
Any thoughts advise etc feel free to comment.

Only a 12m one out of an old pole, certainly caught me a lot of extra fish, they can be a lot of hassle until you get used to them but we'll worth the effort, two things which can drive you nuts are , any joints in the pole which are not fully secure and swivel will stop you from tipping your spoon contents into the pond, also ensure you tip the spoon the same side as your line lies next to the pole or you'll end up dragging the whole lot back in. Feel the lead down by trapping the line next to pole or rod 👍

Cheers my joints will be screwed together using male and female couplers so should be fine.👍

If you're going to be screwing each section into each other ensure you have a very stable spoon as it's very easy to concentrate on putting the joints together only to find you tipped your bait half way out ! Another thing that effects things are a strong wind which is bad enough over 12m never mind 20, it's quite hard to drag a pole against the wind , so make it as rigid as you can.

Im just wondering if you could slide some foam pipe insulation over the conduit, spaced out over a few sections to aid buoyancy?
The insulation i've seen has a 28mm bore though.
But you could build up the pipe sections with tape to get a tight fit for the pipe insulation i suppose?

My cousin done one with 25mm conduit he said it's good for about 10 metres but after that the sections start to flex and bend quite badly especially when theres a chop on the water and is a handful to control.would have thought it could get very expensive spaying with expanding foam.its a great idea but for less than 200 pound you can buy a corus 16m pole with scoop and float and a couple of extensions

Ain't spent too much so far pipe was £12 couplers £6 expanding foam was £6 the gun type so don't waste any, went for a dearer spoon the Nash deliverence one £14.99 but that came with a handle that I've stuck into the end section, just need some bamboo to put into the pipe sections to stiffen it up when I spray the expanding foam in and I'm done, see what happens when I use it 🙏🙏

Hi Nick, I made exactly the same as you last week but with the 20mm conduit (Screwfix by any chance?)
One way to possibly stabilise the spoon in transit is to glue large balsa dowels either side, or fit gas pipe insulation around the sides along half the length?

Toolstation worked out cheaper for me, I've thought about the side bouyancy, my idea if it needs it is smaller conduit cut to size and you can buy plastic end caps online, fill small pipes with expanding foam then, I have some spare black sikaflex to help glue and waterproof the end caps on.
Then drill through baiting spoon and self tapper into the side pipes and run a bead of the sikaflex just before screwing tight, they use the sikaflex to install portals and windows etc on luxury yachts so I defo think it will be strong enough.
