Looking for a new rucksack and like the look of the Gardner.
Any users on the forum?
Will be carrying on the back as most my trips are days or short overnight with reasonable access so no Barrow required

Gardner good gear the rucksack is good it was designed for the river anglers but I've seen a few carp men using one if you like it buy it good customer service

Material is hard wearing. Central compartment is not massive, but enough for the essentials. The rucksack keeps its shape really well. The top insulated section is good for a small amount of bait or food. I would guess you could get about 3kg of boilies in there.
The front pocket has some elastic loops to hold forceps, knives etc and a small rig bits box.
I love mine. Only thing is the elastic that holds an unhooking mat has lost its elasticity. I have to wrap it around a few times. But I have had it for years.
I use it for general coarse fishing. Great rucksack.

Are you only looking at the Gardner rucksack or after suggestions? I also only fish days only and very mobile and I have the thinking anglers rucksack and I really think it's great. Took a little getting used to when I first brought it but it really is a very well thought out product.

Ive had a few rucksacks, but recently got an Aqua Roving deluxe one. The accessibility is a game changer for me. Size wise its perfect for me. Ive had CA Savay sack (far too big), Nash rucksack (nice but just a little too small), Army bergan (too big and awkward to get into). Korum ruckbag (zip broke after only 5 outings).
It was a toss-up between the Aqua roving rucksack and the Trakker NXG - as I wanted one you can easilly get access to. The Aqua one was just better quality than the Trakker one. Admittedly its only seen the bank once, so only time will tell how reliable it is, but it feels well made, and size wise its perfect for me - and easy to get into. I was a bit skeptical about the modular rova bags you get get for it, but now I have them I'm sold on them.

I've been using that Gardner rucksack for a good few years now. Its great, built well, loads of space, big front and side pockets and the lined section on the top is really useful for bait, food or other bits. Best part is, its reasonably priced so you can buy it without feeling like you're having your pants pulled down

The ta rucksack is good quality but very uncomfortable same as the Cotswold ones I have said before was gutted to sell it every one I spoke to says the same but you get the odd person who gets on with it have try see what you think the most comfortable rucksack I have ever owned and I've had a lot is the esp the aqua are good but they are heavy before you put anything in I had roving one lining came away zip pullers came off after three months

Hi, used to own a TA yrs ago, but felt a bit small and rather uncomfortable as seemed to sit high up on my back.
Current one was an esp, before mice demolished it over winter lol....

Haven't tried the Gardener one but very keen to hear some reviews. I started off witht he Aqua Roving Rucksack but got rid as hated the design and decided to go for a more traditional rucksack style. Then bought the Thinking Anglers Rucksack which if it was 30% bigger/taller would be a perfect bag but was too small for both my tackle and my back (I am 6' 5") so ended up selling that. I currently own a Cotswold Aquarius Roamer Mk3 which is a great bag but easily the worst 'Rucksack' I have ever owned. It is seriously terrible and I cannot even fathom how it is called a rucksack. I have emailed CA twice regarding this and recieved no answer as yet (I am hoping due to current COVID staffing) but no matter how I set the straps cannot get it to sit tight against my back, it just kind of hangs low and out making very uncomfortable. I also removed the belt strap as again I see no use in having a belt around my nipples.
The the only video review I have seen of their rucksacks the guy even says he doesn't use as a rucksack but instead as a barrow bag and I should have heard alarm bells then!!!
The sad thing is, the bag is amazing for everything else, the pockets are in the right places and right size and the build quality is great (mine even has what I believe the makers initials written in the lid) but it just feels they have stuck two straps on a holdall and called it a rucksack.

I liked the look of the Gardener Camo one which is around £50 but just wish it was made of a thicker material like cordura.

I bought a Drennan one last year and it is great. Very practical, soild and well built. A very good buy if you can find them (found one in my local tackle shop whilst I was browsing and very glad I just bought it, which replaced my Korum which was great and lasted me almost 15 years until the zips went)

I had the ca mk 3 terrible rucksack so uncomfortable it's got a real reputation of being bad sold it on

I think Drennan and Korum are being overlooked a little now as the 'flashier' brands seem to be releasing some fancy kit. I used to own a Korum rucksack which had a chair you could attach when I fished the river Wharfe for a few years and it was bombproof. I don't think I have seen a Korum or Drennan piece of luggage on a carp lake for years now which is a shame.... perhaps they should do a DPM line.

Mate I am glad it's not just me.....it is terrible!!!! Really terrible as a rucksack!! I honestly don't know how they market it as one. However for the front of my barrow it is great.
