Hello chaps, I'm after a little advise if possible I'm fishing a water well off the beaten track this year that involves quiet a hike and its a big pit too but its not barrow friendly so theres going to be a lot of walking involved. Ive got my kit down to the absolute minimum with most of it ultralight and compact but my only remaining problem is water. Does anyone have experience with water filters that i can pump from the lake. I'm aware that most pumps are just effective filters that remove bacterias etc but most don't remove viruses but if i boil the filtered water would this destroy any viruses and other nastys? Open to any advice on this as the last thing i want to do is get it wrong

i make terrible tea anyway so i don't think I'd notice lol. I'm willing to invest in a decent one as hydration is so important particularly with the legwork involved in this venue. Thankyou for the reply i shall have a look at that, I've just found the msr guardian looks like an efficient unit and deals with viruses too so thats another possible. Maybe it tastes funny as its as water should be minus the consumer chemicals lol

Just had a look at the lifesaver 4000 think that may well be the answer

Does the water have to be boiled still after ?

I would still boil it just to make sure.

I used to use a water filter kit at work and we used to put a tablet forget what for and boil. ( we did it for all our water as we did not know where it came from)

But this was 20 years ago so purification systems gave improved since then.
