It's been a while since I've been on this forum! Great to see it still going!
Recently getting back in to my angling and managed to pick up a set of free spirit rods (v.s, apparently part of the s range). I can't seem to find anything out about these rods online as apparently these rods (the V.S) have been discontinued.
Just wondered if anyone knew anything about them / why they were discontinued, and whether the blanks are similar or the same as the x.s / or even e.s.

Are they the ones that were on ebay not long ago? I also googled them but could not find a vs anywhere so quite strange. I thought i new all the free spirit models but i have never heard of a vs.

I may be wrong on this but I'm sure they are the s range blank but in a lighter test curve. Possibly used as one of their specialist blanks like the heavy barbel rods etc.

That's the only thing I can think of. They had a TS for a bit, a shorter rod on an S blank, amongst a few other variants.

The cs was 2.25 then the es 2.75 and also another 2.75 but 11' called the ts then it went to the xs 3.25 and the xsive. Johnson ross still sell them all. They did a 2.5 s range but in 10' called the bank creeper. There all have a lovely fish playing through action apart from the xsive which was more of a distance biased blank.

They were indeed the ones on eBay. I took a punt if I'm honest. Having collected them I can say that they look and feel great...the blanks cosmetically look very similar to the others in the s range. The test curve is 2.75. It just seems odd that there's no information on them at all so I was curious to know if anyone knew anything about them. I might give JR a call to see if they have any info on them too.

I can tell you the condition of the rods are mint. I don't feel like I've been mugged off...but there's definitely a certain mystery about them!

The early S range was CS, KS, VS, ES, XS, XSive, RS, XSE and XSR. There was also an 11 footer, the TS
The VS was 2.5 test. Either side was the KS at 2.25 and ES at 2.75.

I've got some es and also used to have xs. the whole range are beautiful rods and your vs rods will be superb from margins up to about 90 yards I'd say.
