There not much good if the water is coloured but OK in clear water. Also if you need to cast it out a fair way it's a lot of weight to cast as you need at least a 3oz lead if I remember to hold bottom while you pull the fish spy down so with that and the weight of the fish spy itself it's a bit of weight to get out. The other thing with them is it's not live footage, you have to look around with it and record while it's under the water then reel in and check the recording to see what you've been looking at. To be honest I find it too much hassle to use but can be OK for just checking the margin out. Hope this helps

I don't think they are awful but they are not perfect.
I was using one in France on a very weedy water and it definitely helped.
Its not something I would use every session but I wouldn't sell mine as it can be useful.

As Nigel says it is useful in weed. Otherwise I have not found it that helpful, but it is interesting to look underwater when conditions permit, and I think it worth the money for that reason alone.

I have had one for a while and don't use it very often.
What it is good for is checking if your prebaited spots have been cleared, prior to fishing them.
Just like checking the margin spots you have prepped, but no-one else can see them out in the lake.

Biggest waste of money I have spent tbh. Used to once & it has never seen light of day again. The camera has a resolution of a 20 year old phone - a King Edward spud gives better quality images!. Even in clear water it is terrible unless a few inches away from the actual spot you want to view. It makes a hell of a splash even when feathered down & if you don't like using a standard marker float, you will absolutely hate this! Combined with the weight required to anchor it, you are looking at a casting weight of around 7-8oz! If you want to scare every carp away for acres whilst you check the bottom out then by all means do so, but don't do it around other anglers as you will not be very popular at all!
Also pike lover chasing them which makes for a very expensive lure so make sure you are using at least 50lb braid & maybe a wire trance to attach it to the braid if there is a chance of a large pike having a lunge at it.
