I want to lighten up my baitboat as it currently weighs a ton with lead acid batteries.
Seems like I have 2 options, lipo or lithium-ion.
Which would you recommend?
My boat sits perfectly in the water without the weight of the batteries so need to be concerned about adding ballast to counteract the lighter batteries.
My boat currently runs on 2 X 6v 12ah lead acid

Before running the boat on lipo or lithium batteries you want to find out if it's just a case of swapping batteries as some boats need mods doing to them that have been running on sealed lead acid batteries

Yep agreed, different voltages, different charger, more expensive batteries, changing them is not going to better the capacity maybe a slightly longer running time.
There are still many boat manufactures whom offer lead acid only, I guess as cheaper, easy to maintain etc.
Most lakes are pretty full now, as long as you put it in the water after filling it with the nose pointing to you not much trouble.
If you have any back, arm weaknesses just trying to do everything on your knees with the boat at the waters edge (like only adding the batteries when on the bank). I had to do this going back when I injured my back c5,c6 & c7 discs with pinched nerve leading to muscle atrophy in one arm and could not lift anything (muscles shrunk massively) took over a year to recover.
