Long story short, sold my Fox Barrow recently as was too small and ended up with a Carp Porter Triporter whch is perfect, and sold my Camolite luggage at the same time so recently purchased some Cotswold Aquarius luggage (MK3 Rucksack and Maxi Cool Bag) and was pretty impressed with the quality (although the rucksack fit is still under debate). I decided to finish my set with the Deluxe Pond Creeper.....a snip at £157
Had a look around for some reviews to see how the top module was made up and found this article HERE which shows a review where they end with The pricing of the carryall is not the cheapest, but top quality products are not going to be. The RRP on the Pond Creeper Deluxe is £74.99
The images look pretty much the same as the latest version (Apart from the camo which usually increases the price by a few quid) so I am absolutly baffled how it has gone up so much over the years, unless that review was written in 1970 (when our family home was £45k) are we being completlye mugged off as the sport/hobby becomes more popular???

I'd take that article and challenge them on the price you might get a discount.
Though the problem is these guys don't really make volume so the price is x the Labour costs y all made in the U.K. I'm sure since the article their costs have increased
Though tbh the quality means you'll only ever buy once.
We either support British jobs and companies and pay the price or get cheaper from elsewhere - it's not carp tax it's economics that's all.

Add ingredient MOQs to that and you end up with a cluster(f..)
To be fair to tackle barons they are under a lot of pressure to get things right, and it doesn't always work out so they are tempted to add more ''value'' next time on simple things to make up for it
Most decent anglers tweak kit for themselves and get it right by blood sweat and tears. I used to use cut down and cut apart terminal tackle all the time to get the effects I wanted but things have improved a little and I mostly use simple setups now anyway as the components have improved (but not only that, as you get older you learn it is more about how and where you are fishing which keeps things safe, more so than the gizmos you use)
Point is that no rig or lead setup is 100% safe
They will be when lines are invented that dissolve in water after a certain amount of days, but until them more people need to learn to fish sensibly and nicely

Not defending the prices, but I think that price reflects the RRP of the Green version when it came out back in 2010, which I think is when the review also appeared. I might be wrong, but I seem to remember both as I got to see the prototype at that time.
After 10 years, the equivalent version now is £149, with the DMP at £157.

This is what people have been saying bivvys where £200 then some company thought let's put them up to £400 see if they sell and they do now other companies put there's up to £400 then they put them up to £600 and so on there is only one thing to blame the people who pay it if they didn't they would have a warehouse full so the price would drop the people who control the market in anything is the customer if you don't buy they have no choice but to drop the price after this virus there will be a big leveller in all things

I really don't get the constant praise for CA's "quality"....it's no better than any mass-produced luggage at less than half the price...the rucksacks are shockingly bad fit wise and there are loads of their gear that appears on E-bay second hand with stitching and zips gone. The carryalls have no rigid support and just flop about offering very little protection to the contents.....the rod sleeves are good but not much else IMO.
I'm all for "Buying British" especially at the moment but I'm not being mugged off doing so.

After this is all over tackle companies are going to have to be more transparent. A lot of people wont want Chinese. People are starting to call for made in britain goods.
Yes we know it will take time. But companies that change quickest will see the benefits.

Hippy I agree about Chinese goods but also people won't have the money and as for ca I agree they make the most uncomfortable rucksacks out there and you have to pay extra to have them stiffened the carryall s are like a sack and there prices are ridiculous they sell because as I've heard people say I have got to have the name a lot of companies survive on people's ego

I have had CA carryalls for 20 years now. Never had a bust zip or stitching come apart.
I just use one carryall, soft tackle pouch and buzz bar bag all by CA so not that bigger issue cost wise.
The design on some other bits isn't great though considering the price.

Price up an aqua carryall and then a CA carryall.
