I'd say if you are new, don't get too hung up on bait. Buy a bag from any of the reputable manufacturers from your local tackle. Then go and enjoy your first summer of carp fishing.

Sticky
Mainline
Cc moores
Dynamite
Nash

All perfectly fine shelf life's.

Best shelf lifes I've come across have been The A Bait, by some margin too. Very sensible prices and rolled by one of the best in the business.

I've used the Plum Zing and Wasp from his current range and would happily take either of them anywhere.

As stated below I'm sure you'll do fine on any of the others too 👍🏻

The point of me suggesting that he buys from a tackle shop is so that he can get advice on all the other aspects of carp fishing he might need. Remember back to when you all started, would you seriously have been ordering 5-10kg bags of bait at a time?

bit of a minefield really. ...You said it,

...hence why I agree with 'Rex...Go to a tackle shop and chose from any of the bait firms he has suggested. You won't go wrong with one of them.

Shelf life is very different to frozen (despite all the claims) and tends to be packed with salt, sugar, and preservatives

Freezer bait is very easy to look after and it keeps for a few weeks if you just dry it a bit, coat it in glug, and leave it in the fridge

I would learn how to use and keep frozen bait if I were you. Many anglers prefer it as being more effective.
Shelf life is in my opinion just for long holidays in hot places, and for keeping a bit of handy spare bait knocking around in case they are really having it

There are one or two shelf life baits that are naturally preserved and do not rely on salt and icing sugar. Trouble is finding out which are the good ones and which are the rubbish. I tend to stick to bait firms I know and trust and I have to say, their shelfies seem pretty effective to me.

In no particular order, A Baits (Plum Zing), Nutrabaits (Trigga Ice), Dynamite (The Source), CC Moore( Pacific Tuna), Crafty Carper (Spicy Prawn). Caught fish on all of them and would use them in preference to some so-called ''quality'' fresh baits.

Very good bait mate and is just as good in shelf life imo but I prefer dna s7 or slk which you can find cheaper. Like as said before most Baits will catch if put in the right place so pick one you like from a well-known company and you'll be fine, a good tip is to soak your shelfies in some boiling water in a sealed bucket the day before you go which will make them nice and soft plus will give the appearance that they've been in the lake longer which may make the fish think they're safer to eat.

Freezer baits arent an option for him though. Regardless of what is or isn't in a shelf life they will catch fish if in the right spot. Personally I would use sticky baits or Atlantic heat.
