I'm thinking about getting an inflatable but am unsure of what length. It will be for finding spots and baiting up , i won't be loading it in up with a weeks worth of kit. So what size is the best option for stability and ease of use/control.

Water dependant however, a 2.3 metre will suffice for those purposes.

And i think air deck is the way to go ?

If it's purely for feature finding and baiting up an air deck will be fine mate. Lighter, generally cheaper and much quicker to setup

6 to 8 ft gets my vote
ONE thing I would make sure of its not a round tail and can take an outboard motor ........pointed tubes at the rear !!! even if you havent got a motor in the future you might want to ?

and it would be much easier to sell if you got fed up with it I initially bought a 2.60 but thought this was overkill on my own

so I bought a smaller boat its far better to carry faster to pump up or pack up and to use and to row and of course I can now use a smaller lighter less power hungry electric motor
and on a river a Little Honda 2hp motor it will fly and go forever on a tank of fuel

I cant remember for certain think its 7ft 6 inches but its a Achilles Hypalon boat not a toy plastic boat

a good indication of how good a boat is check the max power rating you can use with it
