Can someone explain the key differences between all these reels for me as quite frankly im confused with all the similar names and model numbers

Ci4 xtc is quick drag,ci4 xtb has baitrunner two spool cap both are lighter and carbon infused so slightly more rigid than the normal ultegra.

So what are xsb's and xsc's then 🤷‍♂️ Both with qd spool caps

I thought xtb and xtc were both bsitrunner spool caps , just one is a newer version than the other

No they dropped the baitrunner 2 spool cap.xsb is beach reel xsc is carp reel I think

so i have owed and used enough to comment

5500 XTB
5500 XTC
5500 XTC Ci4 (current)

i'm pretty sure the XTB was the first one that was then replaced by the XTC. i don't think there was massive changes apart from a bit cosmetically.

XSC is the same reel as the XTC but in a silver.

somewhere along the lines they bought out the Ci4 versions which don't have the baitrunner and have a quick drag. The Ci4 have more bearings and are a lot better quality than the non Ci4 versions.

The XTD is an all black reel that was bought out later.

But to make things simple, buy the 5500/14000 (depending on what size reel you want) Ci4 XTC. best reel out the lot by far.

i may have the odd bit wrong but someone i'm sure will correct me

Thanks all that goes a long way to answering my question... Last one do the 14000 sized spools interchange with other Ultegras and other Shimano reels?

For example could you use a ultegra xtb 14000 spool on a Shimano Power Aero 14000 XTB?

Some spools are interchangeable from the same sort of era , like the old XTB fits the XSB , I'm not sure about the newer models although I've heard the Ultegra spools are similar to the new technium spools

I'm not sure what the ‘T' is for , it does denote that it isn't the surf version like you said

I have the ci4 5500 xtc, as already stated they are cracking reels. Tempted by the 14000 for my LD set up, is there much of a size difference? Body size mainly, bigger spool is obvious by the line capacity.
Wondering if it is worth it considering I already own a set of 5500's??
