Hi all. I've got an old citroen picasso that starting to get real close on failing emissions so was thinking of adding cataclean to the fuel. Has anyone got any feedback from experience whether this stuff works or whether it's just snake oil.

You don't say if it's a petrol or diesel or what reading is close to its limit?
A lot of these cleaners may or may not have an effect depending on what problem is causing your suspect
readings. If you have a sensor on the way out for instance then you would be wasting your money.
First thing to check if you haven't done so already is service items such as air filter, plugs and leads if petrol, clean your MAF sensor if you can, even an oil change could help.
An Italian tune up also is worth a go if you do short journeys.

Hi cornish. Its a 1.8 petrol and the Co is pretty high at 0.18 with the upper limit 0.20. Lambda was 1.009 and hc 132. Car also smells like it's running rich and it also throws up a p0420 code from time to time. It's had a decent service with plugs, air filter, oil and filter and cleaned egr and throttle body but not maf so will give that a little spray with carb cleanrr

I think I would try some cleaner whatever you find. Might be worth it as a preventative measure anyway.

Quick update on this if it helps anyone. Turns out my cat is slowly failing and a mate advised fitting an o2 sensor spacer to cheat the ecu.. What a difference it makes to the emissions and running of the car.. Worth considering if you have a cat problem.

A few years ago I used Cataclean on my diesel Berlingo, after a quick blast up the motorway it was running much better.
