Hi guys, I mainly fish days with occasional overnighters so was looking to sell my bivvy and go for a new brolly system. My bivvy is an Aqua and has been amazing so the obvious choice is the Fast & Light.

Does anyone on here use one? If so could you answer a few questions please:
* How does it hold up in bad weather, can a brolly be as good as a bivvy if pegged right?
* Is there any difference in quality between the green and DPM versions? I like the DPM as it will show up stains far less.
*With an overwrap would it be good enough for all year use

I was out in mine today, there was high winds and it held out no problem. Just have to face the back to the wind, the long storm poles at the front help to. I have the DPM and the material is thicker than the aquatex that was on my M3. I am gonna get the over wrap and i intend to use it year round or over nighters.

I have it and love it. It's really sturdy with storm poles and I've not had any issues even in the storms we've been having. I would suggest the wrap if you're planning to use it year round, it'll also offer more protection and add strength in high winds.

Thanks Fellas, managed to get a great deal of a Mk2 with overwrap for £350. Arriving tomorrow so looking forward to testing it out.

I have the brolly and wrap mate solid well made. Make sure you buy a mozie front for summer

great piece of kit mate, had mine about a year now with the overwrap. I do the same as you, mostly days with the odd night and it suits me down to the ground.

really nice bit of kit, you can buy storm sides for it, which are awesome for the summer/autumn and an overwrap for the winter, If you can get your pegs in well, then it will stand up to anything a bivvy can , when using all 4 storm poles its solid but it depends on decent pegging, as do bivvys really . The storm sides you get for it fit really well and will cope with most showers just dont have the front door.
If i have to use the overwrap i always put the groundsheet down first then the brolly up then the overwrap on, it gives the right footprint for the overwrap to sit straight then. Althought the trade off is the fact you have to set up 3 items to get it right instead of a bivvy which can just go up the once .
Pros and cons of both types really, But in the summer and spring its a great bit of kit if you want to set up quick, I dont even take the carry bag in the summer just off the barrow and put it up if needed. Take the storm sides through autumm and finally give in and take the overwrap towards the cold months. I did use just the storm sides for a few years but the overwrap wind proofs the shelter in the cold winds and you got a door

I've got the mk1 brolly and wrap which I think is a brilliant bit of kit. I use the brolly on its own for winter days. I use it with a wrap for over nighters on my close season water that has small swims that won't take a full sized bivvy. Once set up it's been able to handle everything that's been thrown at it.

I wasn't aware you can get just storm sides for it. How do they attach?

Look on facebook mate, or even ebay theres some on there, they clip onto the ribs inside the brolly and can also clip to the storm poles or as i use them behind the storm poles on the rib, which gives a pretty good full front to the bivvy (minus door) for anything other than strong winds, using them and the storm poles gives a very sturdy shelter , in driving raid ive hooked up the unhooking mat to the front two poles giving a bit more protection but thats the point where you need the overwrap really. theres a few firms that make em ive had mine a few years and its a tiny package to carry around but so useful.

Custom carp products sell them,
Like what was said, they clip onto the storm sides,
I've had a set for a couple of years now, and well worth it, they come in there own bag,
I paid £80, but sometimes you can pick them up cheaper,
CCP are on Facebook, and a good company to deal with, well they were for me

Thanks guys. I will look them up. Had no idea they existed. They sound a very useful addition, even for the odd day when you need a bit more cover but not a wrap.

I might have to do a bit of digging as mine is a green mk1 and at the min the ones I saw seem to be for camo mk2
