I have owned a set of 13ft century c2d's in 3 3/4 tc for a few seasons. I had them fitted with a 40mm high stand off butt ring simply because it was a really good deal but I would have preferred 50mm. There is a shockleader ban on my lake so I have been using 15lb straight through for all my fishing. I have been using them up to around 125 yards and with 15lb line they would get there without too much issue but this is obviously down to casting ability also. I thought they would of been a lot stiffer than they actually are but still managed to retain a decent fish playing ability for a distance rod.
I did however run into problems on a 80 yard cast upon compression the rod snapped inside of the alps reel seat leaving me with the butt of the rod in one hand and the reel and rod in another
. I took it to a rod builder who I have used for various repairs over the years and he stated that it was a regular occurrence with the rods. He went on to say that the alps real seat has no flex and upon compression the carbon comes into contact with the real seat and you end up with a 3 piece. If I remember right the rod had been made slightly softer in the butt section where most of the shock occurs on a cast to make it ideal to use without a shockleader or so they say.
Century did however send me a brand new butt section within 2 weeks free of charge. But that's not really the point it's a long range rod that is prone to breaking upon compression. I have even avoided the rod and took my 12 footers if I am fishing a long way from home in case one of the century's brake.i wouldn't recommend at all at such a high price point there it's lots of top end rods available and I regret choosing century. This is just my findings with the c2d's I have been happy with other century rods over the years but the c2d's just ain't up to the standard required.

This is worrying to hear!! I have had a Custom set for 3 years now and have hit them hard constantly, I've been thinking of selling up for a change as I don't really require these distance tools anymore but really like them so have been stalling but this may have just made my decision for me !!
