Looking into fishfinders and GPS autopilots and just wondering what the advantages of the TF640 are over the TF500 in terms of finder capability.

If you had the X-pilot, would you need the GPS capabilities of the TF640 or would the Tf500 be as good?

I've gott xpilot on x boat and rf 640
Don't really use gps on 640

The fish finder seems good but basic

I have the same as pimp. If i were to do it again I would have the TF500 or raymarine plus Xpilot instead of TF640 plus Xpilot

I had the TF640, I dont think there is much difference between the TF500 and TF640 in tearms of finder capability. If you had X-Pilot then you wouldn't need the TF640. The only advantage of having the TF640 would be that you could have a finder and GPS in one unit instead of two units meaning the X-Pilot and TF500.

Has anyone actually used both the 500 and 640 sonar? I don't think that the spec is the same? And the screen read outs look different in the videos on YouTube, but I've not used both to compare.

How do you find the x-boat? Is it as good as the others on the market? There isn't much about them that I can find...

Xboat has been rock solid, no issues at all. Battery life is excellent. I have used both the TF500 and 640. Both need a minimum depth (6' and 5' respectively) and the readout screen on the 640 is smaller but a tad more detailed. A lot of folk are now fitting the raymarines that have additional sonar and chirp capability
