Hi everyone, Currently a member of twaps and looking to move onto another club in hopes of bigger fish over 30+ pound & new scenes, Been looking into the Ruxley big lake but heard a lot of stories good/bad and also MVAS ticket for Aldington i mainly fish nights. Has anyone fished either and had any issues? Secure/safe? As i do nights I would prefer to not worry about gear being nicked by random people walking about..
Also if anyone could recommend any other good clubs to join with big carp in the kent area worth joining, Thanks

Ruxley is a safe lake they also have laddingford and stretch of the river phennhurst. There's a member on here by the name of tinofmaggots give him a pm he will let you know all you need to know.

Ruxley is secure lake ive fished there on and off for last few season doing at least 1 nights most weeks never had any issues
nice set of lakes with some good fish to be had can be weedy in summer months but always can always find somewhere to present bait
good value for money aswell

Fished ruxley a fair bit last season never had any trouble, think there's a waiting list though as had a letter the other day about rejoining for the money it's well worth it

I was a member many years ago and found it to be a safe and secure lake even with the traveller site opposite can you still do a nights bailiff duty.

I was a member for a few years but rarely went. I did go the AGM's though they were a good piss up

Yes I can remember staggering out of a few of them was a good way to meet other members.

I was a member of ruxley 3 years back. I gave up the membership because the weed in the summer so bad and the club do nothing about it. Although the big lake is still fishable in the summer. Used to be good for all species of fish but the carp people seemed to take over and it's nowhere as good as it used to be. But there are still big carp in there, in all of the lakes.
The big Lake was always the hardest. I know somebody who finished it for 2 years without catching a fish!
If you go through the gate onto the island you can fish The shallows, the new barge and old barge, and the big Lake that's the safest place to be. No strangers can get in there. That is the only place I would night fish.
