Anyone on here using the Carp Technics bait boats on here that are made in Frome Somerset ?
I saw them at the Big One show and a mate purchased it instead of a Technicat as the Carp Technics offered a superior package to the miserable so and so on the Angling Technics stand.
I was just wondering what they were like as they looked OK, it is just whether they work OK.

There are a couple of vid's Gerry but not good enough to make a decision on buying. put something like SB4 bait boat into google and select videos.
I had a very long chat with Jules on Tuesday night, really pleasant bloke definitely someone I could deal with!!!! I wanted to know a lot more before maybe purchasing, Now though I would like to see one in action as I have a few concerns.
SB4 - I am talking about below this is the small boat about the size of a Waverunner Shuttle or Sport.
These are single prop boats with the motor in one hull ( the boats a cat ie dual hull ), battery under one of the lids ( one in each hull) this is held in place with magnetic catch ( good for changing batteries on the bank, It takes a 6v 4.5amp lead battery, under the other cover are the electric i.e. couple of Futaba servo's, a viper esc, a electric light switch, and the receiver. Which is all good to me, My concern is this single motor in one hull, ( might be totally unfounded ), BUT the rudder is set to offset the steering ie keep pressure on the stern to keep in a straight line, over wise if the rudder was set straight you'd go in a big circle, This leads to a bias in steering ie left turn can be sharp and tight whereas the right turn will be a fairly wide turn, again not really a problem but in snag fishing you'd have to reverse to turn out. He was saying the hopper release was using a braid to the catch? that's what I understood, wouldn't be happy with this yes no really tension but like the sound of metal!!!!! ( all metal is 316 marine steel!!!!!
It uses a two blade plastic prop so is likely to be fairly slow again not a problem.
The radio gear i.e. handset is skyline ( probably the receiver as well ) I think it is,
The one photo I saw had a Futaba unit which was a programmable unit probably costing £180!!! but you don't get that.
Overall size and everything is perfect for what I would want, but I want twin motors, two esc so you control the steering use the speed of the props, The blokes building them do know what they are doing, if they only stuck a second motor in it !!!! Their SB3 is a nice boat tri hull but too big for what I need.
If you are thinking about buying, they do two sb4 models but what is advertised on the site is a tad confusing as it seems to indicate the pro plus has better electric's its not the case all you get is carbon finish, believe camo dipping deck will cost just over a £100 extra and about £180 for the complete boat for you tarts out there.
It is great these are British boats, the hull is pressed by them!!!

Jules knows his stuff.i thought it was weird having a motor and rudder on 1 side but was assured it went straight.ive had my sb3 for 7 years without problems.just had a upgrade

Well chaps.

Having spoken to the guy at great length and with them being a 30 minute drive from us it swayed the deal as the arrogant pair of blokes on the AT stand could not have been more rude if they tried !
I have seen the vidoe of the hull being made and a few of them in use and they seem very well made from what I saw at the show.
My mate opted for the black twin hopper SB3 with Toslon 500, padded bag, handset rain cover and 2 spare batteries, hopper covers and even a t-shirt and this came in a lot less expensive than a Technicat and Fulcrum sounder alone.
I will reserve final judgement until we use it against my Technicat in a few weeks time when we go to collect it from the manufacturer .

Id want to see one in action to be honest as previous post states I had my concerns, could be made so much better by adding another motor would give so much more control and to be honest at the price it is I would definitely want twins.

I have the SB3 and it handles great, was surprised as it is a single prop boat it doesn't exactly turn on a sixpence but nevertheless turns tightly. Not the fastest boat but I am never in any rush when fishing, holds a lot of bait for its size and battery life is brilliant. I just did 96 hours and had it out a lot still had loads of juice in the battery (didn't use the 2nd one) handled great in a strong crosswind too.
I will try and put some footage up when I take it out this weekend if anyone interested

SB3 is totally different to the SB4 though, can't compare them really, isn't the SB3's single motor in the middle of the back section, totally different from having on an outside hull with bias rudder setting? SB3 looks good for a big boat!

Yes single motor in middle at back. Big boat? Bigger than my old procat sure but microcats/ waverunners etc are bigger, I find it just right but we are all different I suppose.

I have to agree with Stymie. I have had the SB3 for eight years and it has done me proud. Not the fastest boat out there, but I think one of the best. The two hoppers offer a lot of bait, if that is your thing. Being twin hulled it is stable in rough weather. Good battery life and easy to use.

Big boat in comparison to the SB4!!!!!
I do a lot of swim moving day sessions these days, trying to carry anything larger than a shuttle/sport procat isn't really practical. Hence I was interested in an SB4 but single bias motor put me off, SB3 as said lots of times looks a good boat although 6v I believe which isn't really my choice being I have solar panels bank side chargers and quality mains chargers for 12v :0)
