If it was my livelihood at stake than absolutely. Some of those waters contain carp worth £1000s. I think I'd want to know if some bellend is dumping something dangerous into it just for trophy shots and a consultancy.

I cannot believe that so many people are in denial about the use of hormones, just because no one has any proof doesn't mean it's not going on, use your eyes and ears and your mind. You will be saying next otters don't eat carp so we don't need to worry just because you haven't seen it with your own eyes.
The crack on lads each to his own attitude could result in serious ecological implications. Tricking fish into thinking it's time to spawn cannot really do them any good can it. It might not kill them straight away but it doesn't take much of an imagination to think it must seriously mess them about.
And as for fishing, what's the point if we don't need to worry about location and bait and all the other factors that determine what we catch, just spomb out this stuff and they come to you...we might as well take up golf.
As for the trade, why are they not speaking out, yes I'd be embarrassed if one of my staff was using this stuff but better out in the open than silence, and what about the fishery owners, the worst in me says they don't care because those big catches are good publicity for their waters.

I don't need to list out for you all the waters that were around pre 2000 that only got stocked in the 60's and 70's by people shifting the odd fish around between Leisure Sport waters. The fish weren't grown in stock ponds and chucked in lakes at 30lb like they are these days. That's a comparatively new thing (in the scheme of things).
The CS website says of Farriers "between 250-300 fish with an average weight of 30lb". Impressive stocking levels no?
Places like Redmire were the exception to the rule, a bit of a freak really. I don't recall many, if any waters that were jam packed with 30-40lb'ers, that's why people started going to France is it not?
And no, I've never been to Redmire nor am I likely to. I wish I'd been 30 years ago though.

So if it's going on, how long has it been going on? If it's going on, what has been the impact of it? No one knows because its hearsay and speculation. Has anyone mentioned the lake owners and if they know what is going into their lake? If it was my lake and someone was ripping it apart with something possibly dodgy or dangerous to the stock and livelihood, I would demand the answer and take any appropriate action.
If it isn't dodgy and he is still fishing there, that should answer the whole safety aspect of the theories.

But not totally battering them in match situations - being able to stop putting bait in, have fish move off and then pull them back off baited areas a fair distance away.
The putting a bit of hemp or tigers in and the hair never did that. They'd trip up fish in the swim, but not one 100yds away!

Going further back into the thread, regards the England carp team anglers. As with all aspects of life there are levels to peoples different levels of skills, success and attributes. Having seen good fishermen and fished alongside some England anglers in competitions, they totally on another level. Work rate, accuracy, reading the conditions, timing etc etc. it is like a county footballer stepping up to pro level and being totally swallowed up.
However.....
Having fished a match recently alongside 3 England anglers in pairs, and them getting 2 of the top 3 from different ends of the lake it is a different class in some respects.
One pair fishing next to one of the England boys, watched the fish close in, swim through a channel past all of their bait and their rods to the England lads bait and rods and drop straight on it time and time again. In disbelief I can add 😄
However.....

Don't doubt they are skilful, however, you can only catch what's in front of you and carp match's pending stock density are hit and miss, it's death at the drawbag in a lot of cases, hot swims, the flyers, unless you have something special where the fish swim through a channel, ignore all other peoples bait to get to yours
