Saw that on the news and though the same myself, with today's technology I bet the Yanks could take that lot out in minutes
Ukrainians will bear arms, and rightly so, I hope they beat the Russians back and cause a stalemate minimal. Can't see a way out there of this for Putin, be nice if he would top himself but I'm sure there will be some negotiating along the way

I agree but at some point the west will get drawn in when the body count becomes intolerable.
Whichever way you assess it at some point it's going to go severely pear shaped .

Zelensky might capitulate if the body count gets intolerable. As the leader he's responsible for the population. When does he run up the white flag to save further suffering to his people? He doesn't seem the maniacal type, unlike his opposite number so he will be considering behind the scenes and speeches.

Maybe, but I can't and never could see Putin wanting to draw this out.
That's part of the reason for the huge visible convoys of massive firepower. Clearly it shows they have nothing to fear from the Ukrainian air force so can move about in strength with impunity. Unlike the Ukrainian army that is clearly stuck in it's scattered position's unable to move to support each other. Gradually being degraded or obliterated.
Secondly it's a deliberate show to the Ukrainian population and Zelensky what's coming down the track at them.

From what has been observed, the Russian army has sought to keep civilian casualties as low as possible to keep them on side when the dust settles. The Ukrainian Army has been encircled - a typical Russian tactic of war - in the south of which the numbers are around 65,000.
I think the Ukrainian Army will be offered surrender with the Russian Army willing to wait it out. Similarly, Kiev has been encircled with the government given the opportunity to surrender. All the Russians will do again is just sit it out, control what goes in and out. Something worth noting is that phones and greater communications, electricity, sewage etc are still working given reports coming out of Ukraine.

Agree with a lot of that apart from the American tactics TC. It seems like they've used less ruthless troops and equipment in the main except for the special forces actions. Maybe for the reasons you've stated. Will that carry on if this drags on? That's unknown.

For me, I'd rather not make any predictions, more the case personal whishes and hopes, hopes that no more lives get lost on all sides; wishful thinking? Something that has come up is that the higher ups in both armies know each other well, have trained together, got drunk together. It could well turn out that an amicable agreement between the two armies can be found, given the circumstances with the losses of Ukrainian military and dealing with an invading army even if they do know each other would be very hard for the Ukrainians to stomach.
Something else that has been brought up is that Putin hasn't any interest in West Ukraine and has said that it should be handed back to Poland as the likes of Lviv, Poland are the rightful holders of that land and that Starlin should never have given it away to Ukraine many years ago, also, there is a big problem with Neo Nazis in Western Ukraine from what I gather and it's relatively ungovernable.

The Ukraine army were offered the chance to surrender from the off. The Russian tanks apparently had a white 'v' painted on them which the Ukraine troops could mimic and surrender without being fired upon if they wanted to.

I've not heard about that to be fair. I know that the Ukrainian Army has been asked to put down their arms so they can return to their families. It really doesn't surprise me that on the whole the offer wasn't taken up, after all, the army are trained to fight not taught at any point to surrender, just follow orders.
I can grasp why as a last ditch effort civilians were able to get armed, to be honest, that was a really bad idea, significantly different if those civilians are ex forces and know what they're doing with a weapon, a baker or candlestick maker, not so much. Heard that prisoners had been released early and able to take up arms only to end up killing innocents, also, rival gang members have been dispatching one another with newly acquired arms courtesy of the Ukrainian Government.
