The socialist part of "Social Democracy" is a total misnomer, it's anything but socialist in terms of the Swedish economy; for example:- state pensions privatised, utilities privatised. In a socialist society the government controls the means of production. The dirty secret in Sweden is that the poor pay the majority of taxes, like upto 60% on their earnings, they don't take from the rich to give to the poor, the take from the poor so the rich pay little in taxes.
Sweden is a capitalist country other than its socialist dictates conjured up by government forced upon them by pressure groups (postmodernists, identitarians et al) like the dogmatic policing of language and thought crimes. This isn't anything new, similar is happening globally, much to the detriment of the societal structure, yet Sweden is one of a number of countries that is one of the first to slowly head over the cliff in slow-mo.

What a load of bollo**s ,
List what the average person rates , to achieve the best quality of life , for me it's !
job security with a decent wage .
A good ,well funded NHS .
A state pension which is nearly on a par with the average wage , not the paltry uk state pension of £175 per week
Quality schools
not to mention , the least corruption
Yes they pay slightly more more taxes , but when you weigh that against the benefits it's a no brainer
Unless you want to sustain a broken capitalist system where the corrupt and well connected shaft everyone else !
Capitalism is corrupted , it just needs tuning and regulation , we see why on a daily basis !
These Democratic socialist countries have achieved all the above , they pack the top ten in all the charts for the above list .

I'm sure most would want a "good" NHS, you wouldn't want a s_hit one would you? The NHS is well funded, unfortunately the money that goes in pays off monies owed to PPI contracts and the like for new hospital wings first brought about by the Labour Party

State pension is effectively funded by DMO issued gilts at the outset... Not equity based so any correlation to market crashes is weak (the relationship is typically inverse, in fact).
To be critical of a low state pension... Why don't you look at Greece and the other PIGS... early retirement age, high state pension = bankrupt state.

If you're basing your metric on GDP, yeah, were what 20th or something, what makes these things a bit wonky is population size. Look at the countries at the top, what their GDP consists of and population size. It's no small wonder why Luxembourg is no:1 with a tiny population and all the major companies using it as a tax haven.
