Sounds about the going rate, as I said it's a quid for a single portion of porridge in the the supermarkets, our canteen at work charge 80p for single portions of various cereals, and that's subsidised, and that's without milk.
This is all low volume stuff, so the mark up has to be more so they can make some form of reasonable return on them.
Obviously this model actually works, well the dinners work, as there are multimillion pound companies out there that work on the same model. I've used hello fresh in the past, and it's been really good, everything you need with zero waste in terms of food.
Everyone can moan all they want, but they've seen a gap in the market and gone for it, good luck to them, if it works it works, if it dont, it dont, it's not harming anyone

Of course they are not going to get away with the same mark up and charge £4 for a pot of ready made porridge oats when they are £1 in the supermarkets....same goes for anything else of that nature......cans of beer, fags etc. I suppose therefore they are relying on people being dumb and not realising they are being ripped off for things like cornflakes and weetabix as that is where they are making money....
If they target the idiots who pay £2 for a "sample pack" of 10 boilies from eBay they will be millionaires next year....

How on earth is a dry bowl of cereal 80p and it's subsidised? Even those tiny little variety cereal packs don't work out anywhere near that much, and that the most expensive way to buy cereal (other than from this mob)?

Because its a canteen, your 80p has to pay for someone to clean the areas, top up the stocks and wash your bowl and spoon.

My "angle" is them re-packaging a brand product at a grossly inflated price....but that is a pricipal thing for me...still, if people are happy to pay a premium for such products then that's up to them.
I would rather just take a handful of cornflakes or 3 weetabix from the cupboard and put it in my food bag....there again, I take a pack-up to work so perhaps that's just my mentality.
As for longevity of the concept in Carp fishing I just can't see it and will be gobsmacked if they are still going by Christmas.....There's probably 95% on this thread who think the same as me judging by the comments so if that is replicated across the board they wont last long....

I think they would have to expand into the camping community for it to be worth while, doubt it will make alot of money, but might have the potential to keep a couple of blokes ticking over. What's more worrying is now I'm seeing hello fresh adverts on here, big brother is watching 😬

Doesn't sound overly subsidised then . When I did some work at the bank of england print works in debden I used to get a 2 course meal with an XL fizzy drink for just over £2. Which to me sounds more like a true subsidised canteen

Most modern carp fishermen have no idea what an internet forum is, and 90% of carp fishermen use facebook to ask which flavour goo they should use out of the 20 they have taken with them, and and how many wraps from peg 3.
