Back at the start of lockdown I rang my travel insurance to see if I was covered or needed to update or pay some sort of covid extra cover payment (silly I know) as I was due out at the start of May (fishing) then mid June (fishing), August Bank holiday (to visit my son) and again 3rd week of October (fishing), the answer I was given was my annual twelve month policy was renewed the last week of October 2019 so was valid until the end of my last trip, the lady on the end of the phone went on to say that if I have made the bookings prior to the March 23rd announcement of going into lockdown/Quarantine as a country then I would be covered and only bookings made after this date would not.

Luckily they all were but I have cancelled all bar the last one just because of the quarantine on return I cannot do three weeks/month of work, all have all been relevant to those trips that have passed or the August one coming up to see my son in Holland which they announced on the 14th this month along with France, she then said that as it was all just unfolding and relatively new that come my next renewal this would all be rectified within the policy and expect there to be no kind of cover for anything covid related and likewise with any other insurance companies.

I'm hanging on in hope they might just might drop the quarantine on return by the planned October trip but I honestly don't think they will, 2020 can suck on my dirty big balls.

Has anyone actually been caught not isolating since the quarantine came into force?

Just heard on the radio that France might impose a two week quarantine for people visiting from the UK it's getting tit for tat now.

Would people still go if they impose it ?

No. My boss would definitely not be happy. He's not keen on me going as it is.

You would o my need to quarentine for the one week you are in France if they introduce it. It's the same in the UK, you only quarentine for the time you are there, 1 day or 14 days.

I travelled from France to UK on 16 August. Returned to France on 19 August. Told by Foreign office I only need to quarentine for the time I was there. No calls or checks were made by border force.

Straight from the Home Office web site.

When you arrive in the UK, you will not be allowed to leave the place where you're staying for the first 14 days you're in the UK (known as ‘self-isolating') unless you're arriving from an exempt country.

This is because it can take up to 14 days for coronavirus symptoms to appear. If you're travelling to the UK for less than 14 days, you will be expected to self-isolate for the length of your stay.

If you're travelling from an exempt country you will not need to self-isolate. You should check the list of exempt countries before you travel. If you travel from an exempt country but have been in a country that is not exempt within the last 14 days, you will need to self-isolate for the remainder of the 14 days since you were last in a non-exempt country.

This was already discussed and stupidly the same site says you're allowed to travel back out the county within them 14 days. Also allowed to use public transport if needed..... Mockery of the rules indeed

The French are imposing the 14 day quarantine on French people travelling back from the UK so won't effect any of us travelling over there. We would just have to quarantine on return.

Think the French are doing it to stop people travelling to the UK like we are to France. Tit for tat it seems even though the French are looking like they are having a second outbreak so quite rightly they are on the no go list

Hi,

The French media says it will impose a 14 day isolation within days. I believe like the UK we will be able to do short trips and return home e.g 1 week, isolating at a single address. Although I am unsure whether we can isolate on a lake? It is a single address so it might be ok...what do you know or think?

Just read a post below, the media says the 14 day isolation will also be for tourist entering France not just for the French returning
Are you sure?

This action cannot be undone.
