the 640 is much more accurate than that and many places 3 to 5 meters is way off and if your not bothered about being 15 ft away thats fine but it would be much easier casting than using a boat being that far off unless fishing extreme range.Lots of waters i fish rig placement is critical .Not sure how accurate the other autopilots are but wouldnt bother buying one unless the only thing that mattered was distance.l .Even then i wouldnt buy the xboat because it sounds like if fishing long distances you would be in danger of falling asleep before it came back and for other reasons mentioned previously .Not a sheep i have over 3 years experience using the rt4 and plenty of years experience at my cost using garbage boats that people claimed were great .I am very sceptical now about anything to do with carp fishing especially with all the dishonest reviews and those from people with a vested interest.On the whole there are loads of anglers now raving about how good the rt4 is which speaks for itself .

Many thanks for that. My MK1 waverunner has been all over the place and spent many a day bobbing about on an 11700 acre water. I think they are more capable than we think.
You are correct that the RT4 owns the market, but the Xboat is a very interesting alternative, pitty more like yourself wont post reviews and even more of a pitty they wont spend money on their website

Makes a massive difference on some waters. One of my old places a difference of 1m could mean you are in 40ft of water instead of 12

I agree. I have had various boats and all were excellent at what they do. In fact one of the better ones was a lake reaper, cheap as chips and a little war horse unless things got too breezy or choppy. Never had a problem with any of them as long as they are looked after. The RT4 looks a good boat but as said, i have never had one so cant constructively comment on its capabilities. I can comment on the Xboat and it ticks all my boxes. The web site is crap, agree, but i researched and based on all those second hand comments i plumped for it, as said earlier, based on the negative feedback on the RT4 reliability and returns for fixes of one kind or another. For me, UK support was the prime deal maker. In terms of accuracy the 640 is extremely accurate, you just have to know your spot when the boat gets there based on the screen details (as with any finder) but this can be true for the 500 or any other as well
Im not advocating the xboat ahead of any other, just offering yet more second hand feedback for folk to consider or ignore, its a big lump to spend in whats basically a boys toy regardless of which model!

Where did u find all the feedback on the X boat then??? Don't know anyone who has one, or has seen one either and a I can't find any reviews other than the marketing hype

Yes but surly the echo sounder would show such a difference
When i bother using autopiliot im fishing an area instead of a spot.... if if i want to be with 4cm of a spot i use a rowing boat or a camera.... so no 5m isnt a big difference if you use mixture of technology available.

I'm kinda set on an x-boat. Has anyone any experience of ordering one from carplounge?. Seems a decent discount over the tft prices, obvious downside is that it needs to go back to Germany for any warranty work.

A friend of mine has had his xboat autopilot for around 8 months now he has only used it half a dozen times and likes it but wishes he had paid the extra for a rt4 having used it in the next swim to me for a week.;

Ditto. My mates brought a X Boat and it's been good for them but it's slow and really like comparing a Porsche to a Kia I was doing 3 rods before my mate had done 1....he was turning a little Green with envy bless 🤣
It is easier if it goes wrong but only if you trust in TFT to really know about bait boats compared to those that actually make them ie CL
