Just in case you did ever find yourself in a situation where its 1 on 1 and the other person has a knife, when they lunge at you in a straight thrusting motion one way to quickly disarm the attacker is to slap the knife away in a clap like motion.
one hand hits the inside of the wrist where you would take someone's pulse the other hits the outside/back of the hand causing them to fold their hand in towards the chest, reflexes and pressure points make the assailant lose grip of the weapon straight away. This takes some practice and speed is required but with the world the way it is is very useful to have in the bank if you ever need it.

Shame to hear about Alton. Morbius (on here) who we both know has told me about less than desirable people wandering around and fishing in close proximity to him,much to his annoyance!. As for Chantry park that was on the downward spiral from the mid 80's onwards..its only got worse....and worse..... Melton had its issues a few years after I pulled off there, with stories of the baiiffs dealing to all and sundry incidents of assault etc. I think it might have pulled itself out of the mire now ?

The problems on Alton are much of the reason I stopped fishing it except for occasional trips, and no longer carp fishing there.
Chantry Park, a nightmare.
Drink and drugs, poaching and dead bodies...
I haven't fished Melton for ages, it just doesn't appeal except possibly for pike fishing, and I don't know if Sky (dogs) are allowed, and I rarely fish without her.
Morbeus, really nice guy. He's got a lovely lake to fish now, only 1 slightly annoying, mad man on the lake...
