I was present when a bloke landed a particularly nice linear, foul hooked near its dorsal 'on the drop' I couldn't believe it when the camera came out, and was dumbfounded when i saw it on the front of Carp Talk a couple of weeks later.

I knew someone who caught the big one from lakeside county park in Southampton and he tried numerous times with bait companies to get free bait with it saying it was caught in their bait with each company

Have you got any Belgium ancestry? some I have met abroad fishing in pairs both have their photograph with the same fish and both claim it

I don't really care if people do or don't claim them. If it was my brother or my mate I would still consider it their fish, even if I landed it. If they want pics then I see no problem with that.

Hooked a trailing line that turned out was attached to a 40 plus moggy It flat Rodded me on 3lb plus pike rods I only weighed it out of curiosity Due to the the mighty scrap
It don't count Woulda been a PB If I was that way inclined

I don't see why anyone needs to 'claim it' - why can't it just be the fish that you caught on your brothers rods whilst he popped home?
If it's not a competition/anything at stake why does it need to be claimed?

100% agree. Far too much of this goes on - I see people nipping off home for a shower or to get food, leaving their rods out and asking a mate to keep an eye. Even when they take a dump, these guys don't reel in. If you stop fishing, you stop fishing - reel in your rods. If you leave the water, you pack up. It got so bad on one water I was fishing, that there was a rota going on with the best swims - as no one ever vacated them without one of their mates sliding on in. Sad face of carp fishing these days - noddy time bandits acting like sad **** ers.
