It strikes me as a complete lack of fishing etiquette how would you like it if we as English where lucky enough to have a free fishing lake that was local to you with great fishing and big fish a plenty then all of a sudden because a foreign angler started naming the place you couldn't get near it because the masses descended on it. Simple fact is you wouldn't know one would so do your homework or go and find your own piece of paradise and respect other peoples freedom of choice not to name places.

Is that the same freedom of choice people have to name venues for those that do want to know?
And this is all over a PUBLIC lake

Yeah, imagine St John's being named on a French carp forum, and all the frenchies heading over to fish it, I'd be distraught 😂

And yeah people could name it but that's where the poor etiquette comes in depends on your morals at the end of the day it's a shame most don't have any

What has morals got to do with anything when talking about a lake? Like seriously, i think people need to get down off their high horse a little, and put this situation into a bit of perspective.

Agreed. People need to get a grip.

Nice to see respect and discretion are long dead in many's eyes

I think the point is that they go out of the window when people start making a living out of making fishing videos. Let's all be honest, that video was a promotional video for a bait company. The video will have a far greater affect than a few names on a forum. Anyone with half a brain can figure out the waters.
Just my opinion, but we would all be much better off without these videos. They are 99% either self promotion or commercial promotion. It's all bulls***.

But when the person making the video expressly says why he doesn't name the water it shows a lack of ettiquet to then name it. The guy who did made a profile on here just to do that. And then all the people saying that behaviour is fine. It shows just how downhill the angling world is going.

But quite simply put, it's not his lake for it to be his choice for other people not to name it.
Probably would of fallen off the radar by now if people didn't make such a big fuss over people that did name it

So would it have been expectable for someone to post in the foreign section
(What was the name of the lake that John fished in his last video)

Again , although he did not name the water , what on earth did he think , or others on here , would happen when a big catch including a 70lb carp from a mega cheap open access water get put out over Europe via YouTube . Yes it makes him feel better not naming it , but carp anglers will be carp angler etiquette or not . I'm not even sure it will increase the pressure on the lake that much in the end , as I researched it a long while ago , as part of looking around areas where you should have back up waters to move to should things go wrong or get too busy , so it's a fair distance and foolish just to travel for that lake .
The big question really is should it be moderated / deleted on here , applying the etiquette of John and his wishes to posts made on a carp post ?
