Agree, providing them are putting the profits back into the club, developing the waters, and stocking fish etc. it can only be good for the angler and good for the club, how it should be
Clubs could also help by increasing their transparency when it comes to their books and exactly what they are putting back into the club, they should be run more like a cooperative than a club but it seems many divulge their figures each year and most have now stopped new members which at least shows some concern for keeping the ratio correct.

Down to the angler if he sees the value in the ticket for me. A lot of clubs are changing direction, historically match orientated and now looking towards specimen carp. Like I have already said, can only be a good thing for the anglers IF they get some return on their investment. They could price themselves out of it though but looking at the numbers, sadly I can't see it, mental!
Also,, let's not forget, carp anglers take up a lot more water than a match man so expect a lot of two rod rulings too

I agree to an extent, but the balifs have to have some perks. Some of them are getting a free £100 season ticket for somerhing that probably takes up a lot of their time. And have ti deal with crap at all sorts of hours.

I agree with this my mates old man used to be a bailiff and he said it's the worst thing possible, he said it ruined his personal fishing and would never be one again

It's just the opposite for a couple of clubs I'm still a member off - one's banned night fishing also banned 3 Rods. Just reading the paperwork from the other club – it does seem they have had enough with the same faction breaking the rules and causing problems too.
As one of the Chairmen said to me “Carp are just Clown magnets” oh dear, from what I've observed the past few years I really can't argue with that comment. I've suggested that they take vetting much more seriously, and even having any new members be vouched for by two long term members before they can join.
The irony is -
Club 1, I only join as it gives me the access to the river running out of it for the fluff chucking for the Wild Brownies.
Club 2, with it being a big reservoir with tree-less backings it's great for Fly fishing for the Pike.

Real shame, must admit though you have to look at carp fishing and some of the people it attracts sadly. Some are passionate about carp fishing and everything that goes with it, some just use it as a social gathering to get stoned and have a drink. Club water I used to be a member off they absolutely destroyed it over a period of years. I joined it back in around 2000 and pulled off in 2008 and over that period it went from half a dozen specimen anglers to rammed out with piss heads, drugies, boy racers, campers and total **** wits. To be fair the management of the water was virtually none existent and it relied on people managing themselves. The biggest shame it could be made into a fantastic water
