Because the amount of infections before lockdown 3 were way higher than lockdown 2?
It's funny innit, most years people don't fish at all thru late December til march, its now a disgusting breach of their human rights that they can't travel across the country to pay ££££ to blank at a lake

It matters not to me, the days of camping out in the winter are long gone, you cant get old if you dont get wise.
In regards to the infection rate, it didnt matter, as I said earlier it was in black and white, exactly the same. I think very few people actually understood what the government rules were, they just simply took the angling trusts word for it, instead of using a little bit of common sense.

I have a much higher success rate in winter, particularly February, its my favourite time to be on the bank. The 40 in my profile pic i caught in Feb 2019. I personally think its mad that covid comes out after dark which means we can only fish during the day. I am literally going insane working all day, in a high stress job with no release other than going for a walk.. Fishing is my only release and fix for my mental health issues. i have done 1 day session which i enjoyed but its hard work in winter taking all the gear required to keep warm, I was shattered afterwards. Its not the same as having 24/48 hrs to relax.
Ontop of that my kids are cooped up and going crazy, my 5yr old daughter is 100 miles an hr, with more energy than a bugatti with nothing to do , while my 10yr old autistic son doesn't want to leave his bedroom even for a walk as he hates exercise and is turning into a recluse. (He would come fishing with me)
I know we are all in the same boat and lucky to even fish days locally but its still crap.
Let's hope the restrictions are eased from the end of the month before I crack

The no night fishing lockdown does seem a rather strange decision, as you're still travelling to and from the fishing location regardless of time scale you are there, but that's what they have decided to implement, so it's wise to comply.
The irony thou when BBC Radio 2's Jeremy Vine was doing a phone in on the benefits of “Night Walking” on Tuesday this week, with people phoning in about doing it all though lockdown, and how nice the night sky looks with the lack of light pollution.

I imagine big groups of anglers having a social and standing around their bivvys on public waters is what has done for it.
Every week. Sometimes daily I cycle through:
Lamorbey Park Sidcup
Danson park Bexley
Dartford lakes
Far too many anglers clearly in a non-household huddle.
Sometimes I even had to cycle through a group blocking paths. having a beer, a chat, no social distancing. sticking out like a sore thumb. The Public see this. The golfers see it. The gym bunnies see it. It gets back.

The Police/EA are not holding back on that rule I believe (Here in Lancs that is) Early January one guy walked back from the next swim after chatting to his mate for a few minutes to find Police & EA officers standing with his gear, with one crouched down sticking “Confiscated” stickers on all his gear!
They prosecuted 48 in the same week for numerous things!

Who does it get back to? And who would be making the decision on night fishing? Because by what you described if they are doing it during the day when everyone can see, then stopping night fishing is illogical, as people are just doing it during the day.

It's all about perception. I'm not saying it's right. However, the rule is not to sleep away from home so.....
The hospitality industry would be '' so why are you letting all these bank tramps party it up every night down my local park where I walk my dogs? I had to step off the path just to keep my distance. I saw women and kids looking scared...''

No real issue at the moment, guarantee though it will be an issue if by April we are still in the same boat so to speak, there will be hundreds of anglers looking for loopholes

I'd like to think if a copper and EA officer walked into my swim i'd have seen them coming even I was in the next swim.
if you are not paying attention or are so far away from your rods then you deserve to get nicked.
Both of my syndicate lakes have the no rods left unattended rule which means no further than 1 swim away if caught breaking the rules you lose your ticket.

I was hoping to get out over half term but with lockdown still on I'll probably just wait. It's snowing every other day anyway!
