Don't get dragged into snappers world Mal, He's as mad as a box of frogs, in fact I would say he's already famous for that exact reason

Are we really bringing the slagging off things people say on carp videos cliche into this??? What right does anyone have to say they can't express themselves in that way?? I'd rather that and their genuine excitement than some t**t looking all moody and like he doesn't wanna be there in his catch pics

They may do mate but at least they clearly love fishing and are just diff types of people, but yeah the miserable ones do my nut in!!! Saw one in a mag other day caught I think it was a 45lb fully and he looks like he is miserable in the pic. I'm an ugly f****r but I smile like the Cheshire Cat when I catch anything let alone a 45lb fully

Going on current videos, the prerequisites seem to be:

* Full sleeve (if you can't take the pain of real tattoos - recommend scribbling irrelevant pictures/cheesy life philosophies in biro on your arms (include the hands and knuckles for extra brownie points))

* Effect an Essex accent - and trademark a loud, colloquial exclamation as you land a fish, irrelevant of size, looks, species, venue. Just shout it as loud as you can

* Buy the most expensive gear/clothing and place those products in as many photos/vlogs as possible, supplemented by a rich social media presence (see point below).....

* Reference aformentioned manufacturers in every social media post. Additional exposure can be garnered by sharing those manufacturer's social media posts/competitions with your personal recommendation (even if your PB is 11lb)

There you have it - a roadmap to being a famous carp fisherman of today.

Wow the way you said it I am glad this is forum and one other forum are the only social media I actually do.
I cant watch videos of people fishing on youtube and have never had a facebook.

A bit out of the loop really but that has never affected my fishing, plenty of info here to be honest.

I don't have tattoos but several of my jackets/hoodies have sleeves. Does this count?

Most of my fishing clothing comes from Matalan. Do you think they'd sponsor me if I continue to wear their £9 trakkie bottoms?

I've tried posting pictures of 11lb ****ters on the Matalan instagram account but for some reason they aren't share/liking them. What am I doing wrong. In the last video I even wore a pair of their socks with my crocs and rolled up the trackie bottoms so you could see them better, whilst shouting get in the net you slag and they still dint seem interested.

its not fame

but should you wish to portray carp fishing individuals as that...here's what the wannabes do

get a facebook and instagram account, it must state "carp angler" in-between fore and second name

You MUST obtain a "promo" or "Team member" badge from some back street bait or tackle firm

You MUST wear an over sized free "beanie" on your head, even in the height of summer, so you can look proper carpy

You must post pictures of every capture, most of which are terrible looking fish, with smashed up mouths and lots of tail damage from really crappy waters

You MUST hashtag every single word you type and thank said firm as you would have never even had a bite without their wonderful product

you must be complete KNob all the time, but that will come naturally should one wish to seek said "Fame"

i'm sure I will think of a few more key points as the evening wears on

all in all, the hashtagger, fame seeker is a complete embarrassment to angling
