If I was Nash is build a reel for durability and raw power. Here in SA it's a decent brand. A pal of mine has the 9ft spod rods in the Scope range compared to my stepped up specials. With the Shimanos we fish confidently at range. My LCs and his Ulegras make short work of reeling in.
I'd have to say if one was fishing for a while and one gets past the tackle tart part and you start to desire that quality and durability we all after then a brand would bring out something special. See ESP and Gardner they don't advertise or market as much but we trust their brand and it's in a reasonable price range for all types from the full on world cup angler to the beginer.
There are anglers one here and all around the world that just want to catch fish and do so knowing their gears won't strip or a spool bending when playing fish. Lol just talking alot.
Maybe the brands should approach customers at random and give them a prototype and say "I expect feedback in a month" that way we can tell them straight up what is the pros and cons and what we desire. I mean it's our money in turn if it's junk we buy and sell after a few months/weeks and then the market is flooded with a piece of gear no one wants this after it starts to rust ends up on a rubbish dump or worse in our Ocean.

Doesn't fit their business model. They don't build reels. It would cost millions to start doing so, development and installation of the engineering function and manufacturing facility..... it'd be a completely different direction for them.
Instead they buy cheap, re-brand, and sell high. They get away with it too.

son e the scope concept has taken off in such a big way they're really pushing the boundaries on testing how much people will actually pay for the items that make up the concept...while people pay the ridiculous prices they will keep doing it,look at the price of the new scope rods,luggage etc
they have been scaling everything back with scope concept and social media was Alan Blair carrying everything ,travelling light...the "urban carp soldier" and then the next week hes got everything including the kitchen sink on a electric barrow and said he wouldnt be without one...

I agree with that statement. If one loves the scope gear one should buy it if you have the cash. I on the other hand think you should get something you need. I never had small water rods so I bought a set and heck they work well for me. If I go the distance I get my 10ft vortex rods from WA our local tackle retailer out so I can handle them both from the bank and the boat. My hand luggage are mostly military goods I buy cause I find them more durable than most brands.
I just think that maybe the fishing companies should focus more on a hand full of items to be sold. Some companies have such a big variety it confuses and frustrate me so I buy something completely different.
Like a bivvy for instance it's so annoying cause there are so many brands and every one wants to see their consent. I just bought a OZ Tent it has a guarantee and it's Canvas,Nylon material will just end up short everytime.It errects just as quick if not faster than the wife's brolly. And I assure you it is more luxurious than a fully kitted Trakker bivvy.

Lol will have to see and test them. Will do a trip up to Klaserie dam or Tzaneen in Limpopo in October for my annual leave... Will be a monster test for them at about 200m to 600m at range.

How is fishing at 200 or 600m range more of a challenge than fishing at 20 or 60m?
I've had R3's for about three years now and they've been perfect. I did think one had gone wonky after nearly two years, but then realised that it just needed its first new battery lol.

At 20m I control the line lay. At 200 to 600m you need to come back to the bank very straight if you bow it decreases your indication. With the water levels always changing sometimes the vegetation and growth that formed during the drought is a good place to start. Even if its that far out. If that is where the fish are that is where I place a rig.

I've just been into a tackle shop and had a good look at the new Scope reels and i tell you what, they aint that bad, certainly impressed me a bit more than i expected!
OK, the honeycomb spool is a bit marmite, (I don't mind it to be honest) but it was solid, the drag was quick but not Castizm quick and nice and smooth, (as smooth as you can tell by a quick fiddle anyway!) and nothing wobbled. Absolutely nothing like the BP4/6 range which was truly shocking. Compared to the Ultegra 5500 Ci4's that I have just sold they would stand up very well, Castizm, probably not, but they are £70 a reel more.
Worth £140/£180....nah, but there again where do you get value these days in Carp Tackle.
Will be interesting to see how they perform after a good 6 months of use..but initial impressions....they're OK.
