My dad helped build some of the nightingale hospitals, he owns a scenery and set building company for tv programmes and they were decimated in the lockdown, the hospital builds kept the guys going. Big big money was involved in building those hospitals, a couple of months after they all got paid again to decommission them, I think it was only the excel centre in east London that stayed built for any amount of time but your right, only a handful of people were ever treated.

Boris was obviously reading the papers and listening to Witty, valance and there worst case scenario rather than probable scenario!
I see the big pharmaceutical companies are now gearing up towards long Covid and the various drugs / treatments they will sell the Governments around the world!

On the nightingale hospitals... who would be staffing them? NHS already reporting shortages for the hospitals we already have.
Maybe it'll be another chance to 'bring the army in' ....
Either that or they'll be in touch with all of us experts on here to run them eh?

Long Covid- my brother in law had Covid in October last year was pretty bad but kept out of hospital, unfortunately he's still suffering quite bad from long Covid and unable to return to the working world over a year later.
Very tough going from being the provider of his family to another mouth to feed suffering from constant tiredness and this has really effected his mental health and the happiness in his household.
I hope they find something to fix him 🤞- you can't put a cost on that.

The same as care home staff I expect. The precedent has been set now.
