Exactly this....his investors would have thought he was the dogs danglers in the carp fishing fraternity..... out comes this awful product and they will be questioning him big time......
God knows how much they have invested in this, and they really need it to sell it in the masses to get their money back and a return on investment.
Most waters its banned on and yes the sheep will buy, but id suggest at least 50% of anglers wont touch this with a barge pole...... if it was safe a lot would have purchased out of curiosity and may be not actually used it....
This has the potential to be a gigantic f@ck up, and i bet the investors are thinking what have we done with this clown.

Don't generally do facebook, but just had a quick look, he's even saying use this when snag and weed fishing,,,,think he's been smoking weed....the guy is genuinely deluded....
TBH, I sort of seen a different side to him on monster carp when he sorted out the stray puppies, as a dog lover myself, i thought he was a tosser before that episode, and then genuinely started to like the guy, and thought there is Ali the genuine person which come through on this episode and he also had a TV persona, which is what was shown on the TV shows.... Which is no different than 90% of celebs.....
But after seeing the face book posts and relentless marketing, i have changed my opinion again, the guys a first class gobsh@te

It wasn't about the puppies, it was about him.
Everything is about him, hence why I have watched absolutely zero content with him in it for about 10 years.
What makes me giggle is him advertising the fact its being sold abroad. The Czech post got taken down sharpish when facebook kindly translated all the comments from target market...

The puppies was all show , if he cared a jot he would have driven to his local rescue place at home , we have enough rescue puppy problems let alone importing them .

Agreed, but the bottom line is still hypocritical. We don't do what we do for the fishes welfare.
Coarse angling is arguably a 'cruel' field sport, if you think about it, despite the very best of fish care.

Why do you do it then?
Are you saying that because it's cruel we should throw out the fish care element of our sport and just treat the fish poorly like trout and sea angling, even though we put them back?

You cannot hide behind "its cruel" to somehow justify an abhorrent monstrosity of a contraption, fixed to the hook length. a plastic anchor if you will.

I'm not, the twig is an awful thing and has no place.
It's just that so many coarse anglers lose sight of what they are really involved in, but perhaps that's a separate thread to this and taking the twig debacle off topic.

Its an entirely different discussion - if twig advocates use that as a counter argument, then why are they not bow fishing for carp? Just take the barbarity to the absolute extreme.
Fishing is legal and permitted but the overarching expectation is that we will do what we can to minimise hurt to the animals in the best way we can and that involves protecting them from being tethered, should matters take a bad turn.
This monstrosity has no consideration for that aspect at all. It doesn't brake away, it doesn't snap, its fixed to the hook. I remain shocked it was brought to market in this form. Somewhere, along the way, the firm behind it became blinded by the intention and lost sight of what really matters in our pursuit.
After years and years of tackle trying to do the right thing, we now attach plastic anchors to hook lengths. The more I think about it, the more I wonder what was going on in certain people's minds whilst sat at the cad machine. Its like an episode of the Apprentice, but darker.
